ABSTRACT

PERSONAL HYGIENE SOCIAL INSTITUTION IN THE ELDERLY

In everyday life hygiene is a very important thing to consider because it


will affect the health of a person's hygiene. The data obtained in the Social
InstitutionTresna Werdha Puspakarma Mataram in 2013 of 72 elderly
residents there are 8 people who have had skin diseases such as
dermatitis and decubitus. This study aimed at personal hygiene at elderly
Social Institution Tresna Werdha Puspakarma Mataram in 2014.
This study uses the theory of Potter & Perry (2005) and Mubarak (2007).
The method used is descriptive with the entire elderly population residing
in the Social Institution Tresna Werdha Puspakarma Mataram as many as
65 people. Data collection using the checklist tool.
Most elderly people aged 60-74 years was 58.5%, the highest female sex
63.1%, the largest education school is not 84.6%, skin hygiene category is
less 49.2%, quite nail hygiene category 44.6%, hair hygiene 46.2% less
category, oral hygiene category less than 80%.
From the data analysis, the researcher can conclude cleanliness of the
skin, hair hygiene, dental keersihan less and hygiene category in the
category of pretty nails. Advice for Social Institution Tresna Werdha
Puspakarma Mataram officers are expected to amount to an adequate
number of elderly kelayan that development programs on personal
hygiene in the elderly, especially elderly can be maximized, for DIII nursing
optimize the learning process, especially research methodology, for PPNI
Mataram City to provide new information to the peers, other researchers
are expected to conduct advanced research in the form of true
experiments such as health education on personal hygiene in the elderly.
