My Child,
You were predestined and chosen by me; in the end, everything conforms to my will.[1] I watch all
mankind; I, who crafted the hearts of everyone, consider everything you do.[2]
I am your Father and your God, I strengthen mankind even though some do not acknowledge me.[3]
I cause my sun to rise on both the good and the bad, and rain to fall on the worthy and unworthy
alike.[4] I am patient with you. I do not want anyone to perish, but for everyone to turn to me.[5] I
show you kindness by sending rain from heaven, food for your body and joy for your heart.[6]
My Son Jesus is my radiant glory, the exact expression of my very nature; by his own word he holds
the universe together.[7] I am behind the natural processes of this universe; I know the laws of the
heavens.[8] I cause the sun to rise,[9] the wind to blow[10] and the rain and snow to fall.[11] I cut a
path for the thunderstorm and send the lightning on its way.[12] I keep the beautiful Pleiades in place
and bring out the constellations in their seasons.[13]
I rule over every nation on earth.[14] I make some countries great and reduce others; I enlarge them
or disperse them.[15] Rulers are removed, I have lifted the humble to their thrones;[16] I demote
some and exalt others.[17] I can deprive the leaders of their reason.[18] I bring one down and lift
another up.[19] I watch the nations and rule forever.[20] I send both poverty and wealth; I both
humble and exalt. For the foundations of this earth are mine, upon these I have built the world.[21] Is
it not right for me to do what I wish with that which is my own?[22]
Every nations leaders should be wise and recognize my rule, be warned and seek my will.[23] The
governments that exist have been established by me, so everyone should obey them.[24] But judge
for yourselves whether their orders conflict with my law,[25] for you must obey your God over
men.[26]
I am always working;[27] I am before all, holding everything together.[28] It is because of my mercy
and love for you that you are not consumed.[29] You lie down and sleep and wake again because I
sustain you,[30] so sleep in peace, my child, I grant sleep to those I love;[31] I will keep you safe.[32]
Do not be deceived by anyone, every good and perfect gift you receive is from my hand.[33]
Do not worry about your life[34] but cast all your anxiety onto me, for I care for you.[35] I preserve
both man and beast;[36] I provide food for the cattle and the newly-hatched birds.[37] The lions roar
and seek their food from me.[38] I feed the birds of the air,[39] and the innumerable creatures of the
sea look to me for provision.[40] Therefore, do not worry about how you will live; as I feed everything
else, so I will care for you too.[41]
Although all creation is wearing out, I will remain forever;[42] all creation groans, waiting for the time
when it will be refreshed.[43] But it is still easier for the entire universe to disappear than for the
smallest letter to be taken away from my law.[44] For I am righteous and my law is right,[45] my
righteousness is everlasting and my law is true.[46] The law springs from my eternal nature and is
itself eternal; this is why it cannot be broken.[47]
My law is written in the hearts and minds of everyone. Your conscience sometimes condemns,
sometimes defends you.[48] This is my law; it is perfect and revives the soul.[49] I wrote the natural
laws of the universe,[50] and I am also the author of its moral laws.[51] By these, everyone will be
judged,[52] even those who do not know me, because my law is instilled in their hearts.[53]
Although the world is now chaotic and dangerous, with wars and rumours of wars,[54] I am still in
control.[55] All creation cries to me,[56] but, be assured, I will always be with my children, even unto
the end of the world.[57]
I work for the good of those who love me;[58] my love is eternally with them.[59] Nothing can
separate them from the love of Christ, neither trouble nor persecution, famine, nakedness or
danger.[60] Know for sure that nothing in all creationneither death nor life, angels or demons, the
present or the future, no height or depth or any powercan separate my children from the love
revealed in my Son, Jesus Christ, your Lord.[61]
Love,
Your Father In Heaven

Brian Cross You started out bumpy. Ephesians 1:11 doesn't say that everything conforms to Gods will. It says that
God does all things according to his will, which is massively different.

Most of those passages I can't figure out why you think those passages need to be refuted.

Samuel Leiro I can't figure out how anybody could argue for open theism in light of any of them.

Samuel Leiro Right before that it says we have been predestined.

Brian Cross Btw --- I eat all things according to my diet, which doesn't mean I eat all things, just that what I do eat, is
according to my diet.

Samuel Leiro Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every
spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we
should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ,
according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace,
which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his
purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and
things on earth. In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him
who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to
the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in
him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of
it, to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:3-14

Chris Fisher This doesn't read as anti Open Theist. Am I missing something? If you think it is, then you are probably
bringing unwarranted meaning to what you write.

Samuel Leiro Context, context, context.

Brian Cross Take verse two --- why are you of the opinion that an OV person would have an issue with that? A little
explains on your part is needed.

Samuel Leiro Is this not an open theist group?

Brian Cross Samuel, the context didn't help you any.

Samuel Leiro The letter is about God's sovereignty and infinite omniscience in general.

Joseph Matthew Sabo Yeah, it is an open theist group. I kind of like what you wrote, to be honest.

Chris Fisher I have issue with some of the verses being taken out of context. Let me start here. ,Samuel could you
tell us what this verse means?

Hosea 8:4
They made kings, but not through me. They set up princes, but I knew it not. ...
29 mins Like

Brian Cross Actually it is about the plan to bring the body of Christ into adoption. Gods omniscience is not even
mentioned. The predestination is completely within the groups.

Chris Fisher Samuel, a lot of open theists would endorse most of what you wrote. You will have to explain how it
counters open theism. I couldn't tell you were not an open theist by reading your post.

Samuel Leiro Do you know the meaning of "know"? "Knowing" in scripture suggests an intimacy, a deep involvement
and open affirmation. Are you suggesting that God is not omniscient?
27 mins Like

Brian Cross Oh good grief. One has to now accept that "know" has only one meaning or degree?
24 mins Edited Like

Chris Fisher ^ Is that a response to me? I was just wondering what Hosea 8:4 means to you in light of the fact you
believe Romans 13:1 is a general endorsement for all governments in existence.

Hosea 8:4
They made kings, but not through me. They set up princes, but I knew it not. ..

Chris Fisher The OP seems to be a copy-paste from this website and not OC. I doubt Samuel has basic
understandings of the verses he copy-pasted.

Brian Cross To be fair some of these are well known "problem texts" that OVers deal with all the time. Others are
confusing why they are listed. Why is this verse supposed to be difficult for OVers?
Why is Psalms 33:14-15 supposed to be difficult? If anything, the fact that God "looks at the inhabitants of earth" in
order to "consider their works" is more Of a strong verse against the Settled View as it denies foreknowledge.

Joseph Matthew Sabo Damage.... no credit given either? That's a bit... dishonest. That may fly in some other groups
but I'm sure the admins here won't take to kindly to this kind of behaivor, moving forward. Unless this is your website?

15 mins Like

Chris Fisher ^The answer is that the OP was a copy paste from a website about Providence which is not advocating
against Open Theism. What is funny about that is that Open Theists generally agree with everything written, which
means that the Biblical case for Calvinistic Providence is sketchy at best. Calvinists just do not have the Biblical
ammo to represent their view of Providence so they shotgun all sorts of Providence views that align easily with
general governance.

Brian Cross Samuel, why does God link (in Psalms 33) the observation of people with the consideration of their
works? Why doesn't He just say he foreknew what they would do?

Chris Fisher Here is where I am sad that the OP was not OC (Original Content), not about plagiarism, but I was
hoping we had someone who knew the Bible well enough to build this post. He would have studied the texts and
could speak to the context of each verse. That is my let-down.
