Working Clearance:
U

E-1 The working clearances of switchboards, panelboards and motor control centers to
be installed in an electrical room shall be as per code NFPA-70/NEC article 110.

Voltage Drop:
U

E-2 The permissible voltage drop of feeders and branch circuit conductors shall be
designed as per code NFPA-70/NEC article 210.19 and 215.2, IEEE std.241 (3.6).

Branch Circuits & Feeder Calculations:


U

E-3 The branch circuit and feeder calculations shall be made as per code NFPA-70/NEC
article-220 and 310.15.

HVAC Load Selection:


U

E-4 Where it is unlikely that two dissimilar HVAC loads (Cooling or Heating) will be in
use, it shall be permissible to omit the smaller of the two in computing the total load
of a feeder or service as per code NFPA-70/NEC article 220.60.

Neutral Conductor:

E-5 There shall be no reduction of the neutral conductor of a 3 phase, 4 wire, wye
connected system as per code NFPA-70/NEC article 220.61(C)(1)(2).

Minimum Feeder Size:

E-6 The minimum size of a feeder shall not be smaller than No.8 copper AWG (10mm2)
as per code NFPA-70/NEC article 230.31(B).

OCPD Size & Location:


U

E-7 The overcurrent protection device shall be connected at the point where the
conductor to be protected receives its supply & sized as per code NFPA-70/NEC
article 215.3 & its accessibility as per article 240.24.

Grounding System:

E-8 The grounding system shall be designed as per code NFPA-70/NEC article-250,
IEEE std.446 (Chp.7).

Lightning Protection System:

E-9 The lightning protection system shall be designed as per code NFPA-780 or
IEC 62305.

Fire Pump Feeder Circuit:

E-10 The fire pump feeder circuit shall be designed as per code NFPA-20 &
NFPA-70/NEC article 695.

Wiring Methods:

E-11 The wiring methods shall be as per code NFPA-70/NEC article 300.

Cable Trays:

E-12 The cable trays shall be laid and designed as per code NFPA-70/NEC article 392.

Conduits & Underfloor Raceways:

E-13 The conduits and underfloor raceways shall be laid and designed as per code
NFPA-70/NEC article 342 thru 362 and 390.

Busways:
U

E-14 The busways shall be installed and designed as per code NFPA-70/NEC article
368.

Boxes & Fittings:


U

E-15 The boxes and fittings shall be installed and designed as per code NFPA-70/NEC
article 314.
Switchboards, Panelboards, Busbars & Load on OCPD:

E-16 The switchboards, panelboards, busbars and load on any overcurrent protection
devices shall be designed as per code NFPA-70/NEC article-408.

Motors:
U

E-17 The feeder circuits and overcurrent protection devices for the motors shall be
designed as per code NFPA-70 NEC article 430.

HVAC Equipment:
U

E-18 The feeder circuits and overcurrent protection devices for the HVAC equipment
shall be designed as per code NFPA-70 NEC article 440.

Generators:
U

E-19 The feeder circuits and overcurrent protection devices for the generators shall be
designed as per code NFPA-70 NEC article 445.

Transformers:
U

E-20 The feeder circuits and overcurrent protection devices for the transformers shall be
designed as per code NFPA-70 NEC article 450.

Capacitor Banks:
U

E-21 The feeder circuits and overcurrent protection devices for the capacitor banks, if
required by SEC, shall be designed as per code NFPA-70/NEC article 460 & IEEE
std.141 (Chp.8).

Hazardous Locations:

E-22 The hazardous (classified) locations shall be as per code NFPA-70/NEC article 500
thru 503.

Health Care Facilities:

E-23 Health care facilities shall be designed as per code NFPA-70/NEC article 517
NFPA-99 and IEEE Std.602.

Swimming Pools:
U

E-24 The swimming pool shall be designed as per code NFPA-70/NEC article 680.

Emergency & Standby Power Systems:


U

E-25 The emergency & standby power systems shall be designed as per code NFPA-110,
NFPA-70/NEC article 700 thru 702 and IEEE std.446.

Roadway Lighting / Street Lighting / Interior Lighting Systems:

E-26 The Roadway lighting / street lighting and the interior lighting systems including
the illumination levels and calculations shall be designed as per IESNA RP-8,
IESNA, Lumen-Method and CIE.

Emergency Lighting Systems:

E-27 The emergency lighting systems shall be designed as per code NFPA-101 and
NFPA-70 NEC article 700.16.

Telecom & Data Systems:


U

E-28 The telecommunications and data systems shall be designed as per EIA/TIA, IEEE
standards and code NFPA-70/NEC article 800.

Fire Alarm & Detection System:


U

E-29 The fire alarm and detection system shall be designed as per code NFC/NFPA-72
and NFPA-70/NEC article 760.

SMATV System:
U

E-30 The television system shall be designed as per code NFPA-70/NEC article 810 and
820.

E-31 The other applicable standards and references to be used for designing electrical
systems are IEEE standards, IEC 60364, SBC-401 (Electrical), SBC-601 (Energy
Conservation), SEC-DPS, RCJY-General Design Criteria & Technical Guidelines,
MoT (Roadway Lighting Standards), US Military Design Handbook, GACA-KSA
Airport Standards and ICAO (Annex-14).
