Dad rushed over to break up a fight between his two
boys. O.K. what happened? Dad asked. The oldest
quickly replied. It all started when he hit me back.
The urge to retaliate is strong. Someone offends us, we
give them a cold shoulder. They say something bad, we
do the same about them; only in a more damaging way.
Soon it escalates and isolates two of the closest friends.
Even marriages have been lost because of this reaction.
In his book, Great Church Fight, Leslie Flynn
writes of two unmarried sisters who lived together.
An unresolved issue caused them to quit talking to
one another. Neither was willing to move out, so they
continued to use the same rooms, eat at the same table,
use the same appliances, even sleep in the same room.
They did all without speaking to each other. They even
drew a chalk line and divided the sleeping area in half. It
also separated doorways and fireplace and the kitchen.
Neither stepped into the others territory. In the dark
night they could hear the others deep breathing but
never spoke. Why? Neither was willing to take the first
step of forgiveness.
Refusing to forgive has led to untold tragedies
between families, nations and even churches. Whether
it is a personal offense or a public one, we clearly reveal
whether we are a follower of Christ by how we forgive
when offended. After all, Christ on the cross forgave his
murderers as they gambled for His only clothing.
One of the main reasons Eastmont has been so strong
for so many years is because we forgive. We are big
enough to continue serving. Remembering the best and
forgiving and forgetting the rest.
Weve all known the eroding power murmuring,
complaining and criticizing can take. Look at Moses and
forty years in the wilderness. Blessed abundantly but
they complained repeatedly. Criticism is powerful but
forgiveness is even more powerful. Im glad to be a part
of a forgiving and servant hearted church.
Like all churches there are members who cant or
wont attend a LifeGroup/Sunday School class. It is easy
to develop an out of sight out of mind attitude. But 7-UP PARTY - JULY 30
lets not forget these of our church. Phone, write or visit
them on a regular basis, Jesus said The world will know
we are Christians by our love for one another.
One person can make a difference. In 1776, one vote
gave America the English language instead of German.
Your prayers, visits, ministry and giving is used by God.
Keep serving.

a summer club at Forest Park Ministry Center with the
Mixteco kids of the community. M3 takes place after 1J2.
Bring your lunch. We are collecting school supplies to give
out on Thursday to the children of Forest Park.

BISCUITS GAME - JULY 23
Sunday, July 23, at 5:30 p.m. our student ministry will
gather at Riverwalk Stadium for a Biscuits Game. The cost
is $10 per person. See Cleve to sign up.
Sunday, July 30, the student ministry will hold its annual
7-UP party for all new 7th graders and their families
immediately following the 10:30 a.m. service. Lunch will
be served.
SUNDAY NIGHT HOME GROUPS
Sunday nights in July, our student ministry will gather
in homes of different church members for Bible study,
fellowship, games, swimming, etc. More info coming soon.

Also known as First Choice Womens Medical Center is
looking for volunteer receptionists & client advocates.
This ministry provides free ultrasounds, counseling, etc.

T-Shirt Fundraisers

Alabama - Auburn School Supply Drive
The Single Adults Ministry will be collecting school
supplies for local area school. You can turn in donations
in the ministry baskets around the church. Along with
your donation stick a note on the supplies designating
your favorite team (Alabama or Auburn only). Lets
see which team can collect the most supplies. We will
take donations until Sunday August 6th. Winner to be
announced August 13th 2017.
Paid Childcare Workers Needed
Help with sanctuary choir childcare needed on
Wednesday nights 5:457:45 - Pay rate $8.00 hour
