1. SAFETY INFORMATIONS

In order to operate the servo drive safely, it is imperative that you implement
the safety procedures included in this installation guide. This information is
provided to protect you and to keep your work area safe when operating and
accompanying equipment.
Please read this manual carefully, before you begin the installation
process.
Before you start, make sure that all system components are connected to
earth ground. Electrical safety is provided through a lowresistance earth
connection. Only qualified personnel may install, adjust, maintain and repair
the servo drive. A qualified person has the knowledge and authorization to
perform tasks such as transporting, assembling, installing, commissioning and
operating motors. The servo drive contains electrostaticsensitive components
that can be damaged if handled incorrectly. To prevent any electrostatic
damage, avoid contact with highly insulating materials, such as plastic film and
synthetic fabrics. Place the product on a conductive surface and ground
yourself in order to discharge any possible static electricity buildup. To avoid
any potential hazards that may cause severe personal injury or damage to the
product during operation, keep all covers and cabinet doors shut.

The products covered in this manual are warranted to be free of defects in

material and workmanship. All Elife International drives are warranted for a
period of 12 months from the time of installation, or 18 months from time of
shipment, whichever comes first. No other warranties, expressed or implied
and including a warranty of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose
extend beyond this warranty.

2. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Introduction

Fully enclosed drive on multi-card metal hood and attached to the cooling sink.
The interface to the outside world is created by a plan of connectors to connect
to the motor, the Resolver, the PLC/control unit; executive commands that
determine how the drive is working are transmitted through a fiber-optic
connection that guarantees total immunity to electromagnetic disturbances.

Universal Brushless Servo Drive controls the feedback from Resolver signal
mounted on motor shaft and continually adjusts properly according to the
commands received by speed, direction and maximum torque. It checks out
the three phases of BrushLess motors using a motor control algorithm based
on oriented field.
It is completely designed and manufactured in Italy.

Universal Brushless Servo Drive main characteristics are:

Fanless thermal design, because it is completely devoid of fans, this

performance increases reliability and reduces maintenance because there
are fans that are replaced when locking

Low operation temperature. In fact, thanks to the high efficiency of the

whole project and through a small aluminium heat sink, you can keep
the operating temperature of just above room temperature, which
ensures a long life to all component parts of the drive.

Full Digital technology: all functions that determine the drive operation
are digital, this allows absolute repeatability characteristics making
drives interchangeable between them without any need for adjustments
or fine tuning.

4. GENERAL RULES FOR NOISE SUPPRESSION

All electrical equipment that give rise to about switching inductive loads (drives for
electric motors, contactors, relays, solenoids, etc.) generate disorders that can
propagate via both electromagnetic (EMI) that conduct (along the power grid through
capacitive or inductive coupling cables, etc.), without wishing to enter into the very
complex problem of propagation of disturbances we provide here some empirical rules
to guarantee the proper functioning of the equipment and electromagnetic
compatibility the fact that they do not generate disturbances that will interfere with
the operation of other equipment.

Shielded cables
Connecting cables serve as antennas for receiving and propagation of disturbances;
we recommend therefore the systematic use of shielded cables for both low-power
connections (links) and for power (connections to the motor).
This ensures a significant increase in noise immunity, and a reduction of
electromagnetic interference issues.
Be aware of the shielding braid is grounded only by one of the two sides of the cable,
preferably to drive mass which in turn will be grounded.

Laying
The correct wiring of the framework is of fundamental importance for the proper
functioning of the system; here are the main rules for laying cables.
use of shielded cables for both control and power.
separate as far as possible the location of the control cables from power.
slide the cables in ducts or metal pipes.
avoid the intersection and kinking cables, and where it is not possible to cross
at 90

Grounding
The grounding is essential for noise attenuation; you should follow these general
rules:
connect to ground drive mass by converging all socks of shielded cables.
ground all metal casings (bonnet and radiator drive, motor housing, etc.) trying
to take advantage of the widest possible surfaces.
making the ground connection by low-impedance cables also for high
frequencies.
remove any layers of varnish or oxidation on the ground connections.
insert in the normal system maintenance program control low-impedance
ground connections.
