TITLE: Procedure for Preventive Maintenance of High shear mixer granulator

1.0 Purpose:

To lay down a Procedure for Preventive maintenance of High shear mixer granulator.

2.0 Scope:

This procedure applies to GEA Make High shear mixer granulator Installed at Shilpa
Medicare Limited, Unit-IV, Jadcherla.

3.0 Definitions: NA

4.0 Responsibility:

4.1 Asst. Manager/ Sr. Executive Engineering Shall co-ordinate with user dept to
make the equipment available for preventive maintenance purpose.

4.2 Executive/ Officer Engineering Shall perform Preventive maintenance activity.

4.3 Concern department shall ensure the cleanliness of the place.

4.4 Head of Engineering/Designee shall ensure its compliance.


5.0 Procedure:

5.1 Precautions:

5.1.1 Use Electrical hand gloves where ever necessary.

5.1.2 Follow electrical safety before starting the job. In case of electric shock
follow resuscitation first aid chart

5.1.3 Label the equipment with tag UNDER PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE as


in Annexure ENG/GEN/003/A03.

5.2 Check the limit switches of the lid for safety and replace if not working properly.
5.3 Check all motors and gear box base bolts and tighten them if required.
5.4 Check the V belts for proper tension and alignment.
5.5 Check the pulley for its position on the shaft and tighten if required.
5.6 Check the earthling of the equipment.
5.7 Check all pneumatic interlocks.

5.8 Check the discharge cylinder condition and lubricate if required.


5.9 Replace the O rings if worn out.
5.10 Ensure the function of the purging.
5.16 Check the gearbox for any leakages and abnormal sound.
5.17 Check he oil level in gearbox and top up to 3/4th level if required.
5.18 Check and clean the solenoid valves.
5.19 Check the condition of all gaskets and replace if worn out.
5.20 Check the chopper gland and if required replace.
5.21 Clean the electrical panel using vacuum or air blower and tighten all electrical
connections.
5.22 Replace the discharge cylinder seal kit.
5.23 Replace the chopper bearings and seals.
5.24 Check the worm shaft & impeller shaft for any play or abnormal sound and
replace the bearings and seals if necessary.
5.25 Tighten all motor terminals and check the load current
5.26 Verify that Instrument calibration status is within its validity limit
