RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
2013-2015 Researched and studied phenotypic plasticity in the acorn barnacle C. stellatus
Learned to collect samples even in inclement conditions while understanding how to
properly store them for later inspection. Compiled bibliographic references in order
to substantiate claims as well as cite sources that research was based off of. Also
performed dissections and extensive microscope work while simultaneously taking
photographs of specimens for later analysis. Wrote and organized descriptions for
methods and materials to be used as well as for reference to work that was done.
Statistical analysis was performed to be able to test for covariance in order to aid in
drawing conclusions. Lastly, graphs and images were created in order to convey data
for public display.
2016-Present Researching evolutionary biology in the copepod T. californicus. Learned molecular, genetic,
and physiological measurement methods. Studying gene expression and fitness
consequences of epistatic relationships between genes in hybrid populations.
Examining how divergent populations maintain isolation and suffer from hybrid
breakdown as a result of allopatric separation.
