RESEARCH INTERESTS

Phenotypic plasticity due to environmental variations

Ecological factors influencing evolution on micro and macro scale
Genetic control in specific phenotypic expression

RESEARCH EXPERIENCE

2013-2015 Researched and studied phenotypic plasticity in the acorn barnacle C. stellatus
Learned to collect samples even in inclement conditions while understanding how to
properly store them for later inspection. Compiled bibliographic references in order
to substantiate claims as well as cite sources that research was based off of. Also
performed dissections and extensive microscope work while simultaneously taking
photographs of specimens for later analysis. Wrote and organized descriptions for
methods and materials to be used as well as for reference to work that was done.
Statistical analysis was performed to be able to test for covariance in order to aid in
drawing conclusions. Lastly, graphs and images were created in order to convey data
for public display.
2016-Present Researching evolutionary biology in the copepod T. californicus. Learned molecular, genetic,
and physiological measurement methods. Studying gene expression and fitness
consequences of epistatic relationships between genes in hybrid populations.
Examining how divergent populations maintain isolation and suffer from hybrid
breakdown as a result of allopatric separation.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE

2016-2017 Graduate Teaching Assistant

Responsible for teaching 3 hour lab sections of Introductory Biology. Developed
lesson plans to tie in concepts across a broad range of topics covered. Wrote quizzes
and other materials designed to test students adeptness in subjects taught in a fair and
accurate manner. Held office hours outside of teaching in order to assist students
with further needs.

SERVICE

NSU Nature Club (2012-Present)

Worked for the betterment of environment, including beach cleanups, invasive removals, promoting
awareness as well as campaigns to reintroduce native plant species to suitable habitats

Peer mentor (2010-2011)

Helped incoming freshman to high school with getting accustomed to new schedules as well as
providing them with time and resources to help them succeed in school ranging from setting up
tutoring services to helping schedule future classes

Wauwatosa Interfaith (2010-2012)

Aided elderly in need of assistance with daily tasks ranging from relocating, moving large quantities
of objects that would be otherwise impossible to move, daily communication, and grocery shopping
for those who could not travel or drive
