GROUP 2 PROJECT REPORT ON 12/2/2015

The members of the group reached a consensus to abandon the initially chosen project on
automatic class attendance using face detection and recognition due to the following reasons:

i. All group members are only proficient in c language yet the project demands a
wider knowledge of other object oriented languages like C++, C#, Java and
Embedded C.
ii. The program contains some complex mathematical computations on image
analysis which the members are not familiar with at this stage of the course.
iii. Time constraints

To avoid PLAGIARISM, the members opted for a project on School Management System.

The new project is aimed at managing records of teachers, students and sub-ordinate staff
within the high school set-up. It saves the administrative staff time in student invoicing, data
entry and financial record keeping.

Designed for ease of use and flexibility, the system manages records by adding new members,
searching for existing members, deleting details of members from the database, moving
through the database and modifying the details of existing members.

The system has three main parts linked together namely:

1. The teaching staff section-which is subdivided into the government employed teachers and
the school BOM employed teachers. The teachers details such as Name, ID No, TSC No,
subjects taught, year of entry in school, number of lessons per week, number of remedial
classes, rates of payment for the remedial classes, monthly salaries and deductions eg nominal
rent are included.

2. The students section has details such as admission number, Name, Date and Year of
Admission, Dormitory, Class and stream, class teacher, Guardians details, health status, co-
curriculum activities, responsibilities, Date of fee payment and amount paid, fee balance, total
fees and end-term grades of the students.

3. The subordinate staff section has details such as the name, ID, Responsibilities, salary, rate
of annual salary increment, referees and deductions e.g NHIF on the person.

general system flowchart.
