Standard 2.

7 Assessment
Candidates model and facilitate the effective use of diagnostic, formative, and summative
assessments to measure student learning and technology literacy, including the use of digital
assessment tools and resources. (PSC 2.7/ISTE 2g)

The artifact above is the data inventory that I took at my school this year was enlightening and a
great way to introduce me to a new schools data system for collecting data. It was intriguing to
put onto paper all of the data that the school collects . There is so much more to education that
simply knowing material and planning lessons for students. There are many factors that go into a
students life and knowing more about them and their past experiences with school, attendance,
and behavior better equips me as their teacher to reach them in my classroom.

This artifact shows my mastery of standard 2.7 by showing I can model and facilitate the
effective use of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments to measure student learning
and technology literacy, including the use of digital assessment tools and resources. I was able
to look at the data collected through our gradebook system such as testing data. The system holds
information on diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments. This provides teachers with
information that paints a whole picture of the student we a teaching. The gradebook can also be
used to measure student learning. Teachers can also track students time spent on the learning
management system which allows us to have a good gauge of the students technology literacy.

From this assignment I learned that data is important and can be used for many more things that
just state assessments. I also learned that data is a valuable asset that can be used to paint a
picture of a student. In the future if I did this assignment again I would want to sit in on the data
team meetings to gain further insight into how they use all of their data.

This artifact could affect school improvement by me being able to share the knowledge that i
learned with other teachers. This would allow these teachers to be aware of the data that is
collected and how they can use it to assist them with their students and in the classroom. The
data that is collected in the school can help formulate goals for school improvement. By sharing
what data is collected, when it is collected, and why it is collected, will lead to better collection
data with the teachers.
