Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.
Prior to the SRT activity, I will review the parts of speech with my students by using flash cards and writing on
the board, while they take notes. I will introduce the SRT activity by informing my students that there will be a
quiz over the parts of speech at the beginning of the next class and they should study their notes for
homework.

determine if she needs to review the parts of speech. The students will only need either a computer, clicker,

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

Multiple choice Multiple select True/False Yes/No
Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank Longer open-ended response

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not?

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? After the SRT activity, the teacher will determine if she
needs to have a deeper review of the parts of speech or just need to quickly go over each question, while
giving a few examples. Then, the teacher will have students group up and create their own parts of speech
questions that they will be uploaded to Socrative and all the students will have to answer to receive a
participation grade for the day.

How will the data be used? The right and wrong answers will be collected in Socrative. The teacher will used
the data to determine if she needs to have a deeper review of the parts of speech. All of the students will
receive an individual grade. The student will only be able to see their grade. I will review the questions with
the class and give examples. After reviewing the data, I will determine which students need more help with
the parts of speech and will give them more examples.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I hope to learn how my students think and which ones
need more help. I hope my students will learn the parts of speech, so that we can begin to work on writing
stories.
