Dear Sir:

I have the honor to submit my thesis proposal entitled, PLAYBOX: Independence

Training and Multiple Intelligence Institute for those with Special Needs as a partial
requirement for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Architecture. With the goal of
providing pre-vocational and vocational training to individuals with special needs.
The following are its project objectives:

1. The project aims to raise awareness within the Philippines about

developmental disabilities and how to respond to persons with these disorders.
One of the marginalized sectors in society are those with developmental
disabilities yet they are not widely recognized. The government has yet to
enact laws to protect this sector and many citizens have yet to know about
developmentally disabled people. (Tilton, 2006) Through this facility,
awareness will be raised about developmental disabilities as a complex is
provided for them.

2. It aims to be a pioneer in providing comprehensive and innovative care and

training for independent living, starting with the population of Metro Manila.
Not unlike Cairo, Egypt, the Philippines is in need for a dedicated complex
which caters to those with developmental disabilities. (Mostafa, 2008) This
facility would be a first in the Philippines.

3. To provide the surrounding community with a venue that provides both

economic and social value. In order to prove that developmentally disabled
people are able to be productive members of society thus improving their
image within society the complex would have to showcase their independent
living skill training through a monitored commercial program.

4. The projects aims to heighten the standards with regards to care and therapy
for those with developmental disabilities. Those with developmental
disabilities need special care and need a space tailor fit to their needs in order
to avail of the most effective programs. (Rubin and Crocker, 2006)

Upon the approval of this proposal, it is understood that I shall proceed with the
research work and submit it on the designated date. Justification and other
requirements for the proposal are included herewith.

Sincerely yours, Endorsed by:
