Lesson idea implementation:

Students will review the parts of speech under the flipped classroom on the teachers blog before
coming to class. The teacher will review the Brainpop quiz with her students to make sure they know the
parts of speech. Then, the teacher will have the students create their own parts of speech quiz, by looking up
examples of quizzes online. It will take the whole class time to complete. The teacher will assess the students
by reviewing their quiz and making sure there is a correct answer.
The final product will be used to create a test for the students at the end of the week. I will extend the
student learning to a higher learning level by having the students use their quiz to teach their parents the
parts of speech. I will conclude the lesson by having the students type their quiz and post it to the class blog.

I will provide feedback by reviewing their questions and I will tell them the answers to the quiz from the night
before and provide extra examples.

Importance of technology: A website-creation tool is critical to the project because the students need to
have access to the material. The project could be completed without this technology, but it would require
more paper and time. In addition, the students wouldnt have examples of a part of speech quiz handy. The
students wouldnt be able to access to all of the tutorials and websites that are on the teachers blog, or
review what was taught in class. Computers and iPads are the only other technology that will be used in the
learning experience.
Internet Safety and Student Privacy: A possible issue that could arise surrounding Internet safety and
student privacy is if a student goes onto a bad site. I would minimize this risk by watching what my students
are looking up. I would alleviate any fears the parents and administrators may have by giving websites that
the students can only use to look at examples of quizzes and I would make sure they are not uploading their
personal information when they upload to the class blog. I will always have to approve what can go onto the
class blog. I will make sure that I will remind the students of the Internet safety rules and I will abide by the
acceptable use policies
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
I hope to learn how my students think. I want to know if they understand the lesson or if I need to teach a
different way. I hope that my students will learn the parts of speech and they will feel confident while writing
in English.
