1. Pu rp os e

The Purpose of this procedure is to specify the control of tolerance during critical
stages of fabrication for each sub assembly (structure) and the method of reporting to
Client, by Siemens for APLNG project.

3. Res p o ns ib ility

3.1 Project manager shall be responsible for dimensional tole rance control as per
contract.

3.2 Project Team Production or Factory Manager shall be responsible for taking
corrective action in cases of dimensional non-conformances.

3.3 QA/QC Dimensional Controllers and inspectors shall execute dimensional


surveys and inspection at various stages of fabrications to verify dimensions of
the fabricated members and assemblies.

Inspection Matrix should be clearly sta ted on inspection items.

4. M eth od olo g y

4.1 Dimensional Control will be implemented at various stages of fabrication and


installation.

4.2 Structural dimensional check shall be based upon theoretical reference point and
centerline of the structures.

4.3 All measurements (especially for leveling and straightness) shall be taken at
ambient temperature preferably in the morning. The main bearing support
machined surface shall be measured in the early morning to preclude thermal
effects.

4.4 Measurement shall be made to the surface of the base metal and not to weld. Any
local depa rture from the circularity to flatness shall be gradual.

4.5 W hen special tolerances are included on the drawing, they have to be considered
as the relevant tolerances for the work.

4.6 The dimensional checks shall be carried out as per the following methodology:

a. Linear dimensional checks shall be conducted using a measuring tape, right


angle gauge and spirit level and/or laser distance meter if available.

b. Diameter/radius shall be checked with measuring tape, caliper, micrometer


and/or dial g auge.

c. Orientation shall be checked using calibrated theodolite (or Total Station if


available) to check the degree or by using calculated dimension to check the
chord length and the arc length.

d. Height/elevation shall be checked by measuring tape, dumpy level, measuring


staff, right angle gauge and spirit level.

e. Level/flatness shall be checked by calibrated dumpy level (or Total station if


available), measuring staff and spirit level or digital angle gauge if available.

f. Verticality shall be checked by plumb bob, calibrated theodolite/Total station if


available and measuring tape.

g. Straightness shall be checked by using straight edge, string line or calibrated


theodolite/Total station if available and measuring tape.

h. Concentricity shall be check by using plumb bob, measuring tape, caliper and
dial indicator or angle gauge.

i. Perpendicularity shall be checked by using right angle, dial indicator and


calibrated dumpy level.

j. Machined surface shall be checked for flatness using dial indicator.

k. Gap measurement shall be checked using tapper gauge, caliper or feeler


gauge if available.

l. Piping dimensional checks shall be carried out using measuring tape, right
angle, combination set square and spirit level.

m. All equipment used for dime nsional in spections shall have current calibration
certificate.

5. Fabr i cati on In d ivi du al Mem ber

5.1 The Fit up of individual number is to be checked for proper geometry, alignment
and level of flatness. The chamber and sweep for primary plate girders shall be
inspected during fabrication.

5.2 Rolled cans shall be checked for its ovality, circumfe rence and length. When
individual can member are to be jointed end to end, proper align ment shall be
maintained before welding. Long seam orientation shall also be checked against
design drawing.

6. Deck an d Su b-A s s em bl ies

6.1 The initial dimensional control shall u se center of one the prima ry members as the
reference datum for the layout of the subsequent member. As the assembly
increase in size, it is necessary to establish a control for the whole assembly.

6.2 Geometry dimension and level checks are carried out and recorded during fit up
of assembly and prior to welding. Subsequent interim level checked will be
performed during welding to ensure control of possible deck distortion.

6.3 On the completion of welding, a pot welding survey shall be carried out for the
whole deck or sub-assembly. The surveys shall indicate best fit location of column
legs, stabbing points, assembly interface points, grid line or center line
intersection points, equip ment skid or support when installed and other critical
locations when required.

6.4 W hen deck column leg s are in stalled, dimen sional checks will be carried out for
position deviation, alignment and column height.

7. M o d u le A ss em bl y

7.1 Where each deck is fabricated separately, dimensional survey shall be carried out
of each completed deck before assembly. When column are installed, dimension
and vertical alignment are to be checked and misalignment corrected before
lifting. A comparison shall be made between deck mating interfaces.

7.2 Level or elevation of each deck, when erected, shall be checked and correction
shall be made for out-of-levels prior to weld o ut of the leg connection.

7.3 Water ponding in the floor plated shall be corrected if water depth exceeded
tolerances.

7.4 If other parts of the module are fabricated separately and installed at a later stage,
dimensional survey shall be carried out each completed structure, particularly at
connection interfaces and a best-fit analysis done.

7.5 Fields tie-ins shall also be checked, especially where there are limitations or
difficulties for modifications work.

7.6 Monitoring for possible settlement of temporary supports and ground foundation
shall be conducted during construction of the module assembly at regular
intervals of once a month or period proved necessary by previous monitoring
status. Any founding shall be reported timely.

7.7 During the entire Process of assembly requirements stated in the project
specification for General welding and NDE requirements for structure steel shall
be fulfilled (Spec no .)

8.1. Fabrication tolerances shall be obtained from relevant codes and standards as
mention on Section 2. If not defined, shall be obtained from or agreed
upon by Client/Customer.

8.2 . For Ou t-Of-Toleranc e (0.0 .T.) dim ensio ns, Dimen sional controller and
QC Coordinator shall be ra ised n on-co nfo rma nce re ports.
En gineering shall be proposed method of rectification of 0.0.T to Client and
Project team shall take corrective action to verified and rectified of non-
conformance.

9.0 Pres en tati o n an d Doc u m en tat io n

9.1. All dimensions shall be measured and reported in metric system and all
angles in de gre es unle ss otherwise noted.

9.2. Horizontal deviations from theoretical positions will be given, based on best-fit
calculations, in the form of vectors in two perpendicular directions in
the grid system specified in the drawings. Ve rtical fabrica tion
deviations from true plane or defined plane will be shown in circles

(plan view), u sing "+" or " to indicate rise or fall, or in the form of
vecto rs (isome tric vie w). The me aning of deviation vector should be
conveyed co rrectly to Project Team an d boldly indicated on DC Report
tha t the vector deviations show errors fro m the th eoretical.

9.3. Post-weld surveys or a s-built surveys completed works shall be submitted to


the Client and / or third party for witnessed as per Inspection and Test Plan.
Fit up or interim in-house surveys will be su bmitted on re quest and for
information only.

9.4. Record of Dimension checked by using S-QC-005, "Dimensional Control


Report" and shall be reviewed by Client and Third Party and included in the
Manufacturing Record Book
