Blueberries are flowering plants of the genus Vaccinium with dark-blue, purple or blackberries.
Species in the section Cyanococcus are the most common fruits sold as 'blueberries' and are mainly
native to North America. They are usually erect but sometimes flat shrubs varying in size from 10 cm to 4
m tall. The leaves can be either deciduous or evergreen. They are oval shaped like a two-dimensional
section through an egg, with 1-8 cm long and 0,5 - 3,5 cm broad. The flowers are bell-shaped, white, pale
pink or red, sometimes tinged greenish.
The fruit is a false berry 5-16 mm diameter with a sparkled crown at the end; they are pale greenish
at first, then reddish-purple, and finally blue on ripening. They have a sweet taste when mature, with
variable acidity. Blueberry bushes typically bear fruit from May through June. Fruiting times are affected
by local conditions such as altitude and latitude.
We can get many benefits if we consume blueberries. They contain antioxidants and are useful for
human nervous system and brain health. People may have them in juice. They are considered as a low
GI fruit, means they have a favorable impact on blood sugar regulation. Diabetic people are safe to
consume it. We can freeze them without losing their delicate anthocyanin antioxidants until six months.

Ladybirds or Ladybugs are insects from a family of coccinellidae. "Ladybirds" derives from Britain
and the insects are known as the lady beetle. The word Coccinellid is a Latin word means scarlet.
Most ladybugs have oval - dome shaped bodies with six shorts legs. They can have spots, stripes
or no marking at all, according to their species. Seven spotted coccinellids are red or orange with three
spots on each side and one in the middle; they have a black head with white patches on each side.
Ladybirds are known as predators of aphids and scale insects. They are purely carnivorous but
some species in the sub family Epilachninal are herbivores, and can be very destructive agricultural
pests. They can damage the harvests.
Ladybugs are bird's prey besides frogs, wasps, spiders and dragonflies. Their bright colour
discourage some potential predators to attack them. This phenomenon is called aposematism. The
predators learn by experience that 'good looking prey', associates to bad taste. These insects produces
an alicalloid toxin when the predators attack them.

TULIP
Tulips grow from 10 to 70 centimeters tall. They can even grow in the cold and snowy winter. They
have 2 to 6 leaves. Some species can have up to 12 leaves. The stems have no leaves to a few leaves,
with large species having some leaves and smaller species have none. Typically species have one flower
per stem but a few species have up to four flowers. The colourful and attractive cup shaped flowers
typically have three petals and three sepals which are mostly termed as tepals because they are nearly
identical.
Although tulips are associated with the Netherlands, commercial cultivation of the flower began in the
Ottoman Empire. The word tulip is derived from Persian language dulband (turban).
Tulips are indigenous to mountainous areas with temperate climates. They grow well in climates with
long cool springs and early summers, but are often grown as spring blooming annual plantings in warmer
areas of the world. The bulbs are usually planted in late summer and fall, normally from 10 to 20 cm deep,
depending on the type planted, in well-drained soils. In parts of the world that do not have long cool spring
and early summers, the bulbs are planted up to 12 inches deep. These provide some protection from the
heat of summer and force the plants to produce one large bulb each year instead of many smaller non
blooming ones. This can extend the usefulness of the plants in warmer areas a few years.
9. What country is usually associated with tulip?
A. Greece. B. Persian. C. Netherland. D. Ottoman Empire.

10. What is the main idea of paragraph 1?

11. "..., but are often grown as spring blooming annual planting."
The underlined word is closest meaning to .
A. everyday B. every week C. every month D. every year

12. Why do people term the three sepals as tepals?

Sunflower is an annual plant. It usually grows, flowers, and dies in one year. It
possesses a large flowering head. Sunflower stems can grow as high as 3m, and the flower
head can reach 30 cm in diameter. The term "sunflower" also refer to all plants of the genus
Helianthus, a kind of perennial plants. It means that they are able to grow for two seasons or
more. To grow well, sunflowers need full sun. They grow best in fertile, moist, well-drained
land with a lot of soil protection. In commercial planting, seeds are planted 45 cm apart and
2.5 cm deep.
The flower is native to the Americas. The evidence is that it was first planted in Mexico,
by at least 2600 BC. It may have been planted a second time in the middle of Mississippi
Valley, or been introduced there from Mexico at an early date, as corn was. The earliest
known examples of a fully planted sunflower have been found in Tennessee and dated to
around 2300 BC. Many native Americans used sunflower as the symbol of their Sun God,
including the people of Aztecs and the Otomi of Mexico and the Incas in South America.
Sunflowers "whole seed" (fruit) are sold as snack, after being roasted in ovens, with or
without salt added. Sunflowers can be processed into a peanut butter alternative, sun butter.
In Germany, sunflower is mixed together with wheat flour to make Sonnenblumenkernbrot
(literally: sunflower whole seed bread), which is quite popular in German-speaking Europe. It
