1.0 OBJECTIVE:

To describe the procedure for the Operation and Digital Colony

Counter.

2.0 SCOPE:

This SOP is applicable to Calibration of Digital Colony Counter. at

M/s. Oasis Laboratories Private Limited, Dehradun.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:

Quality Control Department

4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY:

HOD QC

5.0 PROCEDURE :-

5.1 Ensure that the instrument is clean and free from dust.
5.2 Ensure that the magnifying lens is fixed on its appropriate plate.
5.3 Ensure that the marker is connected to either right or left side of
the instrument.

5.4 Switch on the mains.

5.5 Switch on the power button. The internal light will be flashed ON
and the digital screen will show 000 figure in red. Again pressing
this button will turn the power OFF

5.6 Now press the plate containing colonies to be counted.

5.7 Now mark each and every colony one after the other by pressing
the tip of the marker.
5.8 The number of colonies will automatically get displayed on the
screen 000 cab be set by pressing the RESET button.

5.9 When the counting is over, the screen can be set to 000 by
pressing the manual button.

5.10 The counting can be done manually by pressing the manual

button.

5.11 Switch OFF the instrument and put under cover when not
required.

6.0 CALIBRATION:-

Operate the instrument as per the operating procedure and press the tip
of the marker 10 times and then check the number displayed on the
screen. Reset to 000 and again press the manual button 25 times and
check the number displayed on the screen. Reset to 000 and again
press the manual button 50 times and check the number displayed on the
screen. In each the cases the number displayed on the screen is also
10, 25 and 50.
