Global Settings
You can select global settings without opening an OFM workspace.
n Preferences: For selecting which variables you want to show in lists, resetting changes you made to
the OFM registry, and restoring or suppressing warnings and dialog boxes
n SQL: For defining SQL settings and changing the default limit of records for each entity for standard
intraday reports
Workspace Settings
You must open an OFM workspace before selecting workspace settings.
n Date Display: For shifting the default date and time, for multi-frequency calculations
n Multiply By Factor: For adjusting production and injection data by either a static or dynamic (with
time) factor
n Maps: For changing settings applied to maps, such as zoom and group settings
n Normalize Time Shifting Tables: For shifting production, test, or daily production data forward or
backward in time, to compare well or group performance

3. To change the variables that display in all lists, select from the choices in the Input Variable Lists
group.
Note: If you set this to Display all variable names in lists and you want to exclude individual
variables, you can do so on the Edit Schema Tables window or on the Variable Editor.
4. To restore or suppress the warning and confirmation dialog boxes that OFM displays, click Restore
All or Suppress All.
5. To reset the OFM registry settings, click Reset and then click Yes on the confirmation dialog box.
Warning: OFM saves the equipment and text boxes added to wellbore diagrams in the OFM registry. If you
reset the OFM registry settings, OFM removes the equipment and text boxes.

n Define SQL settings: This is useful when you are connecting to external databases.
Note: Leave all settings at the default values, unless you get errors when connecting to external
databases.
n Change the default limit of records for each entity for standard intraday reports. By default, the limit
is 7200 records for each entity (which is about two hours of second-level data), but you can have an
unlimited number of completions in your project and an unlimited number of data points.
Note: If you have an extremely large number of completions, use a project filter to improve performance.
n To consider null all zero values, select Treat zero values as null for sample count.
n To change the SQL statements that display in the output window (for example, to troubleshoot
SQL statements and see the statements used when viewing data in OFM), select one of the
choices in the Show SQL in Output Window section.

1. Open the Multiply By Factor sample workspace. It is in the OFM installation folder, at ...Sample
Workspaces\Illustrative Databases\Multiply By Factor\Multiply By Factor.ofm.
2. This project does not use the Multiply By Factor yet. Create a report that will show how the Multiply
By Factor works with monthly data:
b. In the Select text box at the top of the window, enter: Date, Monthly_prod.Gas, Monthly_
prod.Oil, Monthly_prod.Water, Static_factor.Rate, Monthly_factor.Rate
3. Apply the Multiply By Factor to see the monthly data using a static factor:
e. Notice that the report displays data that has been multiplied by 0.1 (the factor displayed in the
Static_Factor Rate column).
4. Remove the Multiply By Factor to see the original values in the report:

b. On the Multiply By Factor tab, clear the Enable factor multiplication check box.
c. Click OK.
5. Change the Multiply By Factor to see the monthly data using a dynamic factor:
b. On the Multiply By Factor tab, select Dynamic and then select Monthly_Factor.Rate.
d. Notice that the report displays data that OFM multiplied by the Monthly Factor Rate (displayed in
the last column). On row 37:
6. You now are finished with the monthly report, and will create a daily report.
a. On the Analysis pane, right-click the report you created and then click Rename.
e. On the Multiply By Factor tab, clear the Enable factor multiplication check box and then
click OK.
7. Create a report that will show how the Multiply By Factor works with daily data:
b. In the Select text box at the top of the window, enter: Date, Daily_prod.Gas, Daily_
prod.Water, Daily_prod.Oil, Daily_factor.Rate, Static_factor.Rate
d. Notice the values in the report, which are the same in every row:

8. Apply the Multiply By Factor to see the daily data using a static factor:
d. Click OK.
e. Notice that the report displays data that OFM multiplied by 0.1 (the static factor rate).
9. Change the Multiply By Factor to see the daily data using a dynamic factor:
c. Click OK.
d. Notice that OFM multiplied the values in the report by the daily factor rate (in the Daily_Factor
Rate column).
