So if it's 6 hours, you do this to use that as your start/end time.
Now for a demo so you can wrap this around your head like I did:

We'll take this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDAw7vW7H0c

The ID is: oDAw7vW7H0c

And this is how we'll use the link with a start time of 30 seconds and end time of 1
minute and 29 seconds:

http://youtube.googleapis.com/v/oDAw7vW7H0c?start=30&end=89&version=3

And voila!

If the link does not work, be sure that you have the correct ID, seconds, version three,
and no spaces in between the URL. (Or you can leave a comment below).

YouTube Center

As explained by Martin Lindner, YouTube Feather beta increases the performance of

YouTube videos and provides minimalistic layout as well. Here is another
performance hack with many more things.
Many years ago YouTube switched to a streaming protocol called Dynamic
Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH). DASH enables the video to buer in
blocks. Every time you seek in the video it will have to rebuer that block and it will
not buer the next block if you're not at the very end of the current block. It works
and buers faster for people with fast internet connection but with slow internet
connection, it is quite irritating.

If you are having slow internet connection, you can easily turn DASH playback o
by adding YouTube center to the browser. It comes with other useful utilities as well.
If Dash Playback is turned o YouTube will load normally where you can pause the
video and it will buer to the end of the video.

You can add YouTube center either as an extension or a user script. After adding
YouTube center you'll notice a gear icon in the upper right corner of YouTube (next to
the google account thumbnail). Clicking on the gear icon will lead you to the YouTube
center. There are too many options and settings to play with. To disable DASH
playback,just uncheck the DASH playback.

As I stated earlier, YouTube center comes with others utilities too. Such as:
Download video or audio track.
Set aspect ratio.

Resize player.

Turn light ON/OFF.

Following screenshot says it all

1.Here is YouTube center user-script - YouTube Center for Greasemonkey .

2.Features of YouTube center - YouTubeCenter .

3. I rst came across YouTube center via - Preload Entire YouTube Videos By
Disabling Dash Playback

Note:If you are using chrome, Turn developer mode ON and drag
YouTubeCenter.crx le into the chrome://extensions/ page.

Join the YouTube Feather beta

http://www.youtube.com/feather_beta

Not only is this the best performance hack you can do, but it also lets you keep up a
certain level of productivity through the minimalistic layout. There are no comments
and there is not an abundance of recommended cat videos on the right.
The minimalist Feather layout.

The "Feather" project is intended to serve YouTube video watch pages with the
lowest latency possible. It achieves this by severely limiting the features available
to the viewer and making use of advanced web techniques for reducing the total
amount of bytes downloaded by the browser.

You can easily opt out. Just once for the current page (e.g. if you really want to read
the comments) or permanently.

Dark Mode.
If you've ever tried to watch YouTube when it's dark out, you know that the typical
bright white of the video service's page can be a bit blinding.

Enter "Dark Mode," a hidden feature that turns the light surfaces black or dark gray
so you can watch all those videos without damaging your eyes.

Enabling the mode is fairly simple, provided you're using an up-to-date Chrome
browser. You'll need to access the browser's developer tools and follow below
mentioned steps:-

1. Open console (Press F12 button on your keyboard).

2. Paste: document.cookie="VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=fPQ4jCL6EiE" on the

bottom of the console.

3. Reload/ Refresh your Browser.

4. Click your avatar and then toggle the mode on in the menu you get when you
click on your avatar.

5. Dark mode!.
6. You can easily turn the mode o, too, though you only have to use the
console command once.

It's an easy, semi-ocial way to save you some eye strain. Even though Dark Mode
hasn't been announced by YouTube yet, it could be a great regular feature that may
not require all the extra steps in the near future. Why not give it a try now?

1. To download a YouTube audio

How many times do you have to jostle between websites/freeware that allow you to
download the audio of the video you're watching? Well, not anymore.

Simply replace "youtube" with "listentoyoutube" in the URL to download the audio!
2. Download YouTube videos

You want to pick out a few videos for your big classroom presentation, but because
there's paucity of time, you nd it irritating to go through a million "video
downloader" sites. So what do you do?

You simply put "ssyoutube" in place of "youtube" in the URL and download the video
in any quality available.
3. Bypass the age restriction

What about all those raunchy videos that require an age restriction?

Simply replace "youtube" with "nsfwyoutube" to bypass it.

4. To block YouTube advertisements

Ads are irksome, aren't they?

Well, not anymore! Typing "youtubeskip" instead of "youtube" in the URL can help
you get around it.
5. To play the video on loop!

Replacing "youtube" with "listenonrepeat" in the URL and the video would loop
without your intervention

6. Defeat country restrictions

There are some videos that are specic to one/more countries and are out of bounds
for you, so how do you access them?
Here's how a normal YouTube link looks like:

Copy the "xxxx" string of characters and paste it so that the URL reads:

http://www.youtube.com/v/xxxx

7. To line-up all the videos from a specic YouTube channel

If you like watching a lot of videos from a specic YouTuber, this hack is perfect:

Add "&list=UL" to any video and it will spawn a meta playlist containing all the video
uploads by the uploader, in chronological order.

8. To turn the video into a GIF

Make a gif out of the YouTube video by replacing "youtube" with "gifyoutube".

To repeat a video or song without pressing the play button every time, replace
"youtube" with "listenonrepeat" before the ".com" in the URL. Alternatively, you can
add "repeat" between "youtube" and ".com" and it'll redirect to the same site.

And the great thing about this is that if there is an ad, it won't be repeated.

2 tips, chronological all videos playlist, and watch YouTube in VLC :

1. My favorite since I like to watch a lot of video from a specic youtuber when I
discover a new one :

Just add &list=UL to any video and you will get a meta playlist containing all video
uploads by the uploader of the video in chronological order.

For example :

Take the rst ASAPScience video :

YOUTUBE/watch?v=5kK-cIHnVg4

And just add &list=UL :

YOUTUBE/watch?v=5kK-cIHnVg4&list=UL

Magically, you got a playlist starting with this video and ending with the most recent
one. That's really convenient when the uploader doesn't have a playlist All my videos
or you know just to watch them in the real order of release.

2. When you have a slow computer struggling with youtube player or slow bandwidth
or just want a better experience, use VLC !
- Open VLC
- File -> Open a network link (my VLC is in French, sentence might be dierent)
- Put your youtube link as the URL
- Voila, VLC play youtube video without any problem !

I have to go with the Wadsworth Constant. It's a simple observation that, in most
YouTube videos, there's relatively little to see in the rst third of the video. By
pressing play and then immediately hitting 3 on your keyboard, you'll skip to the 30%
mark. This simple key press allows you to save the time you would have spent
watching the typically boring/unnecessary setup portion of the video and get right
into the action.

Twist in tail
This app was removed from the play store after some months by google as
they found this app to be violating terms and condition of YouTube.

As the only source of income for YouTube is advertisement and this app

In case you are watching a long YouTube video, e.g., a 40 min. TEDx talk, and you
realise you need to close your browser for some reason (installing a program/update),
click on the 'Share' option and check the 'Start at' check box.

Copy the URL into a Sticky Note/Word le, or wherever convenient.

Alternate:
<video URL in browser> & t = <no of minutes> m <no of seconds>
(Without spaces)
E.g. <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjD3ZK91DHo&t=1m52s>

YouTube is the third most popular website in the world, after Google and Facebook.
Millions of subscriptions happen each day on YouTube, with over 800 million unique
users visiting each month. In that timespan, roughly 4 billion hours of video are
watched, with 72 hours of video uploaded every single minute.

YouTube is localized in 43 countries and is available in 60 languages. In 2011 alone,

YouTube had more than 1 trillion viewsequivalent to 140 views for every single
person on Earth.

As you can see, YouTube is an immense behemoth of an entity. Its videos are featured
on the news daily, usually in the form of funny and shocking clips. Personally, I nd
myself watching YouTube videos almost every day, whether it's to listen to a song I
can't nd elsewhere, to learn how to do something, or just to watch skateboarders
fall .
So, why is it that even though YouTube is unimaginably popular, I still nd myself
learning new things about the video sharing site all the time?

Here's a list of some of the best known secrets (or not) on YouTube.

1 Play Videos in Slow Motion

Did you know you can make any YouTube video play in slow motion? All you need to
do is hold down the space bar and the video will start to play at a much slower
speed.

If that doesn't satisfy your needs, you can also sign up for YouTube's HTML 5 Video
Player , which allows you to slow down or speed up the video from the settings gear
on the page.

Unfortunately, the settings under the gear icon won't help you get through those
annoying ads any faster. It only works on videos that aren't monetized because the
ones with ads still use Flash .

2Link to a Specic Playback Point

Sometimes, when clicking on a link to a YouTube video, you're fast-forwarded to a

specic point in the video. This is usually the case when the person who linked to the
video intended for the viewer to watch that clip, without having to watch the rest of
the video. If you want to do the same, here's how:

Add #t= to the end of the video URL, followed by the minute you want (with an m)
and then the second (with an s). An example would be #t=01m18s or #t=78s for 1:18 in
the video.

You can also just pause the video at the desired point, right-click on the video, and
choose copy video URL at current time.

This also works for embedding videos, so if you're posting it on your own blog or
website, you can also cut out an extra step by embedding the video rather than
linking to it.
3Load Videos Faster with Feather

Do your videos not load as fast as you'd like them to? Feather (currently in beta)
might be the answer you're looking for. This feature trims the fat o of each page by
taking away things like expandable share boxes, collapsible comments, and other
settings.

Before Feather:

After Feather:

Give Feather a try and see if it makes a dierence in your video load speeds. Not only
that, but it may be a favorable layout for those who enjoy a more simplistic feel.

4Make Automatic Playlists with Disco

Want to make an automatic YouTube video playlist of your favorite artist? Well, look
no further than YouTube Disco .

This feature allows you to type in your favorite artist's name and YouTube will create
a playlist of all their hits. I did one for my favorite rapper, Chingy, and it created an
awesome playlist for all my friends and family to enjoy.

Chingy was da best.

5Use Only Your Keyboard

With Lean Back , you can turn YouTube into a keyboard-only interactive website.
The site is overhauled with a unique and beautifully designed user interface that
allows you to search for videos, while only using the arrow and enter keys.

You can also just browse the site, if you don't want to search for anything specic. The
sidebar is lled with icons corresponding to the most popular categories: sports,
gaming, music and much more.

6Watch What You're Feeling

If you're feeling emotional, try out YouTube's hidden feature called Moodwall .
Through the use of keywords and specic phrases in the comments of each video,
YouTube specialists have devised an equation that separates all videos into specic
moods.

Whether you're feeling creative, gross, funny, amazing, sad, deep or intense, the
experimental page has a category to appeal to your current state of mind.

You can go through all the dierent categories on the left side of the screen, and if you
want a fresh take, click twice on any one category and they will all change.

7 Play the Snake Game

Probably one of the best known secrets of YouTube is the Snake_game . It's even in
the Wikipedia entry .

I remember playing that game on my old Nokia for hours on end. To play it on
YouTube, all you need to do is hold down the left or right arrow key for a few
seconds while the video is paused, then press the up arrow to start the game.

This is especially useful if the video you're watching takes a long time to load,
whether it's because it's in 1080p or your internet is acting up again.

8Edit Your Videos Right in YouTube

If you edit your videos before uploading them to YouTube, you might want to try out
YouTube's Video Editor . With this free tool, you can:

Combine multiple videos you've uploaded to create a new, longer video.

Trim your uploads to custom lengths.

Add a soundtrack from YouTube's library of approved tracks.

Customize clips with special tools and lter eects.

If you just need the basics, this is a great way to cut out an extra step rather than using
another program. You might even be able to make it into a decent video editor .
9 Compare Your Load Speeds to the Rest of the World

Ever wondered how fast your YouTube video playback is compared to the rest of the
the world? With My Speed , you can check your average speed (in Mbps) and
compare it to neighboring cities, your state, the US and the entire world.

While it may not be a mind blowing feature, it is very interesting and provides some
incredible statistics. You can also scroll down and watch their Test Video, which
shows you all of the connection and speed information in real-time.

10 Customize the Ads You See

The peskiest part of YouTube are the ads. They pop up everywhere and always make
you wait up to 30 seconds, just to watch a 5 second video of someone falling down on
their ass. While you can't get rid of the ads, you can surely customize them.

All you need to do is head over to Ad Preferences and remove whichever ads you
don't want to appear. Not sure what advantages this has, but at least I don't have to
watch those damn ads about how to treat erectile dysfunction anymore.

For a completely ad-free experience on youtube , download a chrome extension called

AdBlock from the web store . Now you don't need to add anything to the url to
remove the ads since this extension doesn't allow them to load in the rst place .

This extension also removes all ads from any other sites you might visit . You also
have the option of disabling the extension on any specic pages which might want
you to disable the plugin to see their content .
