2017 Graduate Program


Introduction
Welcome to the start of your application to join the Kinross Tasiast 2017 Graduate Program.

Set out below are details on how to apply to the program and further information about each step.
Please follow the details carefully.

The application process is your chance to show us that you have what it takes to join this exciting
program.

Depending on your progress through the different stages, there are important dates to note when you
may be asked to make yourself available at the Nouakchott Office and also the Tasiast mine site.

What we look for in a graduate


Before you start preparing your application, Kinross Tasiast would like to share with you what we are
looking for in a graduate.

Application Process

Step 1: Prepare your CV


When you complete your application, you will need to upload a record of your personal details,
education and career history your CV. Make sure your CV is up to date and try to limit it to two pages.

PERSONAL DETAILS
Your full name, address, email address and phone number are most important.

EDUCATION DETAILS
List these in reverse chronological order, with your most recent education first. Include the name of the
institutions, the dates you were enrolled and the qualifications you obtained or will obtain when you
graduate. You must provide a list of any relevant modules, projects and dissertations you have
delivered, the grades you have achieved and professional skills you have developed.

CAREER HISTORY AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE


Whether paid or voluntary, all your work experiences are important. Present these in reverse
chronological order with dates to show how long you remained in a particular role. Include what you
achieved and the skills you developed.

ACHIEVEMENTS AND OUTSIDE INTERESTS


Include this information to show that you are a person with a balanced approach to life. Focus on recent
examples, describing what you contributed and learned in various ways.

*REMEMBER
Your CV is important to demonstrate your key strengths and achievements and is an important step in
any application process.

Step 2: Complete Supplementary Questionnaire

This document will overlap with your CV but please ensure you complete it carefully. It must be
completed as a typed document on a PC do not complete by hand.

Please don't just make any general statements about your qualities - support them with evidence. For
example, explain what you may have done to date that illustrates the qualities you have in relation to
the Kinross Gold core values and leadership capabilities.

Step 3: Apply online


Applications will only be accepted online via the Kinross Gold Careers website:

Students & New Graduates

Enter the Student and New Graduates section above and click on APPLY NOW to join the Kinross
Tasiast 2017 Graduate Program.

Complete the online application form questions. Then upload your:

Cover letter
CV
Supplementary Questionnaire
Copies of your highest qualification
Any academic transcripts and other documents you may judge necessary to support your
application

Applications will close on Monday 31 July 2017

Step 4: Application screening


Once applications close, we will review your application to see if you are suitable for the program.
Screening will take into account your academic results, the relevance of your tertiary qualification, your
involvement in extracurricular activities, other interests, memberships, community-based activities or
work experience.

If your application is successful, we will contact you about the next step of the process. Please ensure
you obtain the following Important Documents and information to bring with you for step 5.

We suggest you start gathering these documents as soon as possible as some of them may take some
time to obtain.

Copy of work certificates or internships (if applicable)


Copy of identity card
Contact details of the university attended (preferably email)
Recent criminal record (only signed documents on official Mauritanian court letter heads, or
court stamped documents will be accepted)
References from previous employers (if applicable)

Step 5: Psychometric Assessments

You will be asked to complete a number of psychometric assessments which will assess how well you
meet the requirements of the Graduate Program, and whether youll be a good fit for the Kinross Tasiast
culture. These will consist of the following, and will be conducted under supervision at the Kinross
Tasiast Nouakchott Office in Mauritania.

Verbal and numerical reasoning


Abstract reasoning
Behavioural preferences

Important Dates:
The psychometric assessments will be held sometime between Friday 11 and Monday 14 August
2017 at the Kinross Tasiast Nouakchott Office. Please make sure you are available during those dates.

Critical:
During this assessment stage, you will be required to submit the important documents
mentioned in Step 4 above.

Step 6: Skype Interviews


If you are successful after the psychometric assessments, you will be invited to a Skype interview with
members of the Kinross Tasiast Management team. This will be a short 15 20 minute interview, the
purpose of which is to get to know you a little better.

Important Dates:
The Skype interviews will be held in the week commencing 21 August 2017 at the Kinross Tasiast
Nouakchott Office. Please make sure you are available during those dates.

Tips for success:


Do your homework in preparation for your Skype interview:

Research Kinross Gold and gain familiarity with Kinross operations, projects and core values.
When you're being interviewed, think carefully about the question.
Gather your thoughts before you answer - don't just say the first thing that comes to your mind.
Frame your answer to provide evidence of what the interviewer is looking for.
Always focus on what YOU have done, not on what other people have done.
Always be enthusiastic about your achievements
Keep your answers relevant to the question and come to the point in good time.
Provide sufficient background information to set the scene, but be careful not to wander away
from the question.
Think of some questions in advance to ask at the end of the interview so you can end on a
positive note.

Step 7: Final Selection (Kinross Tasiast Mine site)


If you are successful after the Skype interview and the background and reference checking process,
you will be invited to participate in the final selection process at the Kinross Tasiast mine site in
Mauritania. These will include the following:

Site tour
Dinner with relevant members of the Kinross Tasiast Management team
Panel Interview
Self-presentation
Case study presentation
Group simulation

Important Dates:
This final selection process will occur from Thursday 31 August to Monday 4 September 2017.

Please note that we will arrange a bus transfer to and from Kinross Tasiast Mine Site to Nouakchott
and all accommodation at site.

Step 8: Offer to join the Graduate Program


If you are successful following the final selection process, we will contact you to make an offer to join
the Graduate Program. Your offer will be subject to successful completion of a medical examination
arranged by Kinross Tasiast.

Important Dates:
Medical examinations will be arranged in the week commencing 11 September 2017.

Step 9: Commence the Graduate Program


The Kinross Tasiast Graduate Program will commence on Monday 2 October 2017.
