Why should the scholarship be merited to me?

I hate Chemistry.
Two years earlier, I would have found myself persistently answering with these
three words sentence to those people, who had bombarded me per demands of
why I slacked in the aforesaid science subject in every exam I had taken. I had
been demoralised, the small spark in my chest which ignited whenever I was
studying Chemistry was no longer there. Why? Easy as a pie, I could have said
that I was such a folly then, but I was not. I had never had taken a test without an
outstanding outcome, yet everything had changed when I received my first
Chemistry test paper which was laden with red marks everywhere. Since then,
my Chemistry would have always been approximately 50%, as I would dawdle
around without working on my Chemistry homework. Worse, I had never in fact
paid attention in every Chemistry classes I had attended that year in 2013.
Nonetheless, a phenomenon happened just when I thought my Chemistry was
going past beyond saving. The assumedly died excitement learning this branch of
science was revived whilst I was in form five, I began to be driven more than
ever to study Chemistry. It was all sweat and blood, having myself to hit the
books, revising on chapters I had missing out, struggling to ask teachers about
things I did not quite well absorbed, and the aftermath was a satisfaction.

Green with envy, I would see myself towards others who had the ventures to
robotics and to actually create or innovate something through science fairs. The
least which I had done was to study Kemahiran Teknikal, the elective topic in
Kemahiran Hidup for three years. In 2013, I had initially taken 10 subjects, with
Reka Cipta as the additional elective subject I had taken as I was fascinated with
the ideas of creating things. However, I had to give up my enthrallment with
Reka Cipta when I had transferred to MRSM Kota Kinabalu from SMK Membakut,
as the MRSM system required the students to only take 9 subjects with the
option that I had to choose whether Biology, Reka Cipta, or Perakaunan as the
9th subject.

Hence, with the amalgamation of my budding love with Chemistry, Physics,

Mathematics, and the crave of fashioning novel things that can help to change the
world, I want to have a degree in Chemical Engineering. College life is going to be
a whole new level for everyone who is going to further to tertiary education
including me. The picture-perfect phase for every students wanting to
experience exciting moments as well as explore new and diverse inklings on how
to change the world. I believe that going abroad to study will help students to
widen their horizons and it is a way to see that life has not the same meaning as
it does to other. I would love to pursue Chemical Engineering via Natural Science
in University Of Cambridge in the United Kingdom.

The broad range of career path, and the avenue to contribute to our society
through the chemical innovation, is for me, one of the pivotal attractions of
chemical engineering. In our nations resolve to achieve Vision 2020, I have a
faith that studying Chemical Engineering will profit Malaysia, as more engineers
will mean more outputs, and more outputs will denote the growth of our
economy. Chemical engineers are versatile that they can pursue their careers in
the wide range of industries from pharmaceuticals to petroleum production.
Coincidentally, most of the main industries which our country depended with,
are aligned with the need of chemical engineers in these sectors. In addition,
regarding to the recent flood disasters which had devastated most low-laying
areas in Kelantan, Pahang, Sarawak, Sabah, and so on, had given me an inkling on
how man made structures were very brittle when a lot of buildings and roads
were wrecked by the notorious disasters. Thence, I was compelled to become a
chemical engineer more than ever because I wanted, and I want, to produce
more fortified substances which is stronger than cement perhaps that cannot be
easily destroyed by such tragedies again from applying the knowledge I will
learn from Chemical Engineering.

If people are living with a maxim as a guide in their lives, I am living with
plethora of apophthegms as my philosophy in my life. Classical pieces of music
beguile me as much as Punk Rock does. I have always regarded myself as unique,
one of a kind. Many people who acquaints me considered me as an aberrant,
which is a quality that makes me fairly dissimilar compare to any other people. I
have never really care about how people said on how weird am I since I know
that I am weird a good way. I love to work in groups but I can perform well when
I work alone too. Every group presentations I had done, I would be usually
entrusted with the role of being the presenter and the leader. I have no flair in
arts or music but I really would love to be involved in theatre plays and I have
the experience performing the main female character in a drama competition in
which we, the drama team had managed to secure the second runner up place!

Having the chance of being a Yayasan Khazanah scholar would be phenomenal

for me and I will be really looking forward for it. I really hope that the younger
self me, and the present me would be really proud of myself in the future when I
am able to help to ameliorate the lives of other fellow Malaysians and all people
across the globe and oil the wheels of our country economic growth and success,
through the course I had chosen to study and the career I would like to pursue.
