Mis hermanos y hermanas Scouts de la Regin
Estoy muy encantado de saludarles en esta ocasin muy especial de nuestra
Conferencia Scout Interamericana, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Es en eventos como
ste que nosotros tenemos la oportunidad de reunirnos para celebrar y compartir,
expresar nuestros ideales y fortalecer la unidad de nuestro maravilloso Movimiento.
Siempre ha sido importante recordar que el desarrollo del Movimiento Scout a nivel
mundial depende del desarrollo del Movimiento Scout en cada regin, Asociacin,
comunidad y en cada grupo Scout. Ms importante es an el reconocimiento de que
el Movimiento Scout ha contribuido sustancialmente al desarrollo de generaciones de
ciudadanos responsables en todos los pases donde est activo. Nosotros slo pudimos
haber llegado tan lejos con la ayuda de aquellos quienes voluntariamente trabajan
con ustedes en aras del desarrollo, lo cual es muy significativo. Las contribuciones de
los miembros pasados y actuales del Movimiento Scout en la Regin a travs de los
aos son, sin lugar a duda, una gran y nica demostracin de que el Espritu Scout
es. En representacin de la Regin Interamericana y en mi propio nombre como
su Presidente, quiero reconocer las contribuciones de todos los que han trabajado
para que nuestros miembros jvenes puedan experimentar verdaderamente la
hermandad del Movimiento Scout.
Han pasado tres aos y expreso mi sincero agradecimiento por haberme dado la oportunidad de servir. Servir
no habra sido una tarea sencilla sin su apoyo y el valioso compromiso y dedicacin del Comit Ejecutivo y los
miembros del CSI. En este sentido, me gustara especialmente destacar el apoyo de Fernando y Kent quienes me
han mantenido en accin y han sido mis ms dignos crticos. Me gustara tambin saludar a mis compaeros deserving critics. I would also like to salute my fellow members Diego, Gilberto and Oswaldo who will also retire
Diego, Gilberto y Oswaldo quienes se retirarn tambin con Fernando y conmigo. Gracias chicos para hacer el
viaje conmigo. Fue gratificante y satisfactorio. Nuestro fundador, Lord Baden Powell, en cuya simblica sombra
nos ubicamos como benefactores de tan maravilloso Movimiento, siempre estuvo consciente de que el Movimiento
Scout es para jvenes. Hoy nosotros podemos haber cambiado un poco la terminologa, para ahora incluir a
miembros jvenes de ambos sexos, pero el mensaje no ha cambiado. La intencin principal del Movimiento Scout
es desarrollar en los jvenes un sentido de propsito y utilidad a travs de una educacin informal, un mtodo
formativo y un programa enraizados en los fundamentos de la Ley y la Promesa Scout. Este visionario BP de
alguna manera comprendi que la paz mundial slo poda lograrse a travs de la comprensin de la Misin de Una One Promise, One World a notion which was the theme of the 21st World Jamboree in commemoration of the
Promesa, Un Mundo, una nocin que fue el tema del 21 Jamboree Mundial en conmemoracin del centenario de
la presencia del Movimiento Scout, un logro que muy pocas, si no es que ningn otra organizacin juvenil podra
presumir.
A ustedes, los miembros juveniles, ser miembro es una oportunidad para demostrar el cuarto artculo de la
Ley del Scout, Un Scout es hermano de todos los Scouts. Tambin es una oportunidad para aprender y tener
sana diversin. Cualquier cosa que hagas, ya sea como miembro de un grupo Scout es una oportunidad para
demostrar a los dems que el Movimiento Scout puede contribuir a la paz social, a la educacin para el desarrollo,
al dilogo intercultural y, sobre todo, al desarrollo de la dimensin espiritual de las personas. Esto podra ayudar
a evitar o permanentemente resolver conflictos as como a desarrollar su carcter y fortalecer su voluntad para
resistir las tentaciones y los valores negativos de este tiempo. Me gustara expresar de manera sencilla pero muy
enrgicamente en nombre del CSI y en el mo propio nuestro ms sincero agradecimiento a todos aquellos que
han laborado para el Movimiento Scout en el trienio pasado. Debe hacerse mencin especial de Ral y su dedicado
equipo de profesionales que han comenzado a llevar al Movimiento Scout a otro nivel en la regin. A Scott,
Janine y los BSA as como a la Asociacin de Scouts de Panam, un agradecimiento especial por su contribucin
en el establecimiento de nuestra nueva Oficina Regional. Recuerden que ustedes han contribuido en hacer una
diferencia en las vidas de muchos jvenes y su trabajo ha contribuido y contribuir en moldear las mentes de
aquellos que nos conducirn en el futuro.
Gracias. Y que Dios pueda continuar bendicindoles y dndoles el valor y la fuerza para servir a sus semejantes.

My Brother and Sister Scouts of the Region
I am very delighted to greet you on this very special occasion of our...
Interamerican Scout Conference, Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is at events like this
one that we have the opportunity to gather to celebrate and fellowship, express
our ideals and strengthen the unity of our wonderful Movement. It is always
important to remember that the development of Scouting worldwide depends
on the development of Scouting in every region, association, community, and
in every Scout Group. More importantly though is the recognition that Scouting
has contributed substantially to the development of generations of responsible
citizens in all the countries where it is active. We could only have come this
far with the help of those who volunteered to work with you in the interest of
development, which is very significant. The contributions of past and present
members of the Scout Movement in the region through the years are no doubt,
a great and unique demonstration of what the Scout spirit is and I salute you.
On behalf of the Inter-American Region and on my on behalf as your Chairman,
I want to acknowledge the contributions of all who have laboured so that our
youth membership could truly experience the brotherhood of Scouting.
Three years have gone by and I express my sincere thanks for giving me
the opportunity to serve. Serving would not have been an easy task without your support and the sterling
commitment and dedication of the Steering Committee and members of the ISC. In this regard, I would like to
specifically highlight the support of Fernando and Kent who had kept me on my feet and have been my most
with Fernando and myself. Thanks guys for making the journey with me. It was a rewarding and fulfilling
one. Our Founder, Lord Baden Powell, in whose symbolic shadow we stand as benefactors of such a wonderful
Movement, was ever mindful that Scouting is for young boys. Today we may have changed the terminology a
bit to now include young members of the both sexes but the message has not changed. The major intention of
Scouting was to develop in young people a sense of purpose and usefulness through an informal education and
training method and programme rooted in the fundamentals of the Scout Promise and the Law. This visionary
BP somehow understood that world peace could only be achieved through an understanding of the Mission of
OSN de nuestra regin. El apoyo del Comit Scout Interamericano, as como de la Fundacin Scout
100th Anniversary of the presence of Scouting, an accomplishment that very few if any other youth organisation
could boast of.
To you the youth members, to be a member is an opportunity to demonstrate part four of the Scout Law, A
Scout is a brother to all Scouts. It is also an opportunity to learn and to have clean fun. Whatever you do, to
be a member of a Scout Group is an opportunity to demonstrate to others that Scouting can contribute to social
peace, education for development, intercultural dialogue and above all, the development of peoples spiritual
dimension. This could help to avoid or permanently resolve conflicts as well as to develop your character and
strengthen your will to resist temptations and negative values of this time. I would like to express simply but
very forcefully on behalf of the ISC and on my own behalf our sincerest thanks to all those who have laboured for
Scouting over the past triennium. Special mention must be made of Raul and his dedicated team of professionals
who have started to take Scouting to another level in the Region. To Scott, Janine and the BSA as well as
the Panama Scout Association special thanks for your contribution in establishing our new Regional Office.
Remember you have contributed in making a difference in the lives of many young people and your work has
contributed and will contribute in moulding the minds of those who will lead us in the future.
Thank you. And may God continue to bless you and give you the courage and strength to serve your fellowmen.

Hace tres aos iniciaba, en la 24. Conferencia Scout Interamericana, en
Panam 2010, mi papel como Director Regional. Desde aquel entonces
muchas cosas han sucedido.
Aquel Edificio 172 de la Ciudad del Saber, que algunos de ustedes
conocieron en el 2010, que en es momento solamente contaba con
paredes y techo; que en su interior slo se haba acumulado el polvo y
la humedad. Esa casa en la que las Organizaciones Scouts Nacionales
presentes, depositaron una piedrita en un molde con nuestro emblema
scout mundial, la flor de lis. Esa casa en junio del 2011 se convirti,
por fin, en el recinto que albergara la Oficina Scout Mundial - Regin
Interamericana, nuestra nueva Oficina Regional.
En aquel entonces slo Ramn, Luis Francisco y yo habamos llegamos.
Los muebles tardaron un poco ms en llegar y despus las computadoras
e impresoras. Jess, como mi asistente, lleg en noviembre de 2011.
Un gran momento se avecinaba. Tras un largo y complicado proceso de seleccin, por fin se hacan
presentes para iniciar una nueva aventura, los tres directores de las reas estratgicas de la OSM-RI:
Mauricio Veayra en Programa de Jvenes, Ralf Dillmann en Adultos en el Movimiento Scout y Jos
Gabriel Criollo en Desarrollo Institucional.
Con un equipo pequeo, pero con maravillosas personas y con grandes ambiciones de llegar muy
lejos, iniciamos el trabajo en conjunto. Mltiples reuniones y visitas a las Organizaciones Scouts
Nacionales siguieron. Ron, en el Caribe y Hctor en el Cono Sur fueron parte de este nuevo equipo.
Durante estos dos ltimos aos hemos buscado a toda costa servir de la mejor manera a todas las
possible. The support from the Interamerican Scout Committee, the Interamerican Scout Foundation
Interamericana y de la Oficina Scout Mundial- Oficina Central, ha sido crucial para lograr este impulso
inicial.
Reconozco, sin embargo, que aun es mucho lo que hace falta. Aun hay tareas pendientes en
nuestro Plan Regional. Tal vez fuimos demasiado ambiciosos al plantearlo o tal vez no hemos sido lo
suficientemente efectivos para lograr su cumplimiento al 100%.
Sea cual sea la conclusin consideramos que el siguiente trienio nos permitir avanzar en las tareas
pendientes y adems iniciar nuevos proyectos que nos lleven a lo que tanto anhelamos, convertirnos
en la mejor de las regiones en este maravilloso Mundo Scout.
Para esto requerimos de seguir contando con el apoyo de los rganos regionales y mundiales, pero
sobre todo de las Organizaciones Scouts Nacionales en nuestra regin para que nos permitan servirles
aun mejor.
Creemos que de esta forma el futuro de nuestra Regin Interamericana, a la que tanto queremos y
de la que tanto esperamos, ser uno luminoso en el que ms y ms nios, jvenes y adultos decidan
formar parte en alguna de sus 34 Organizaciones Scouts Nacionales y as juntos seguir Construyendo
un Mundo Mejor.

Message from
the Regional Director
Dear Sister and Brother Scouts,
Three years ago at the 24th Interamerican Scout Conference in Panama
2010, my tenure as Regional Director began. Since then many things
have happened.
That Building 172 of the City of Knowledge, which some of you knew in
2010, which at that moment was just walls and a ceiling, inside only dust
and moisture had accumulated. In that building in which the National
Scouts Organizations present, placed stones in a mold of our World
Scout Emblem, the Fleur de Lis. In June 2011 that building became, at
last, the premises of the World Scout Bureau - Interamerican Region,
our new Regional Office.
At that time only Ramon, Luis Francisco and I had arrived. The furniture
took a little longer to arrive and after that the computers and printers.
Jesus, as my Assistant, joined us in November 2011.
A great moment was nearing. After a long and complicated process of
selection, at last, the three Directors of the Strategic Areas of the WSB-IAR: Mauricio Veayra in Youth
Programme, Ralf Dillmann in Adults in Scouting and Jose Gabriel Criollo in Institutional Development,
were finally present to start a new adventure.
With a small team of wonderful people, and with great ambitions to take the Region forward, we
started working together. Numerous meetings and visits to National Scout Organizations followed.
Ron, in the Caribbean, and Hector, in South Cone also were part of this new team.
During these last two years we have sought, as a priority, to serve all our NSOs in the best way
and the World Scout Bureau - Central Office, has been crucial for attaining this initial momentum.
I recognize, however, that much work is still needed. Still there are pending tasks in our Regional
Plan. Perhaps we were too ambitious in designing it or maybe we were not effective enough to achieve
100% compliance.
Whatever the conclusion we believe that the following triennium will allow us to advance in the tasks
that are pending and also start new projects that will lead to what we all desire, to become the best
of the regions in this wonderful World of Scouting.
To do this we need to continue with the support from regional and global bodies, but above all, from
the National Scout Organizations in our region, allowing us to serve them even better.
We believe that in this way the future of our Interamerican Region, which we love and expect so much
from, will be brilliant, as more and more children, youth and adults choose to participate in some of
its 34 National Scout Organizations and together continue Creating a Better World.

Del 6 al 7 de noviembre de 2010, el Comit Scout Interamericano se reuni en la sede de los Boy
Scouts de Amrica en Irving, Texas, EE.UU. Los 10 miembros y el Director Regional recibieron la visita
de Rick Cronk, Presidente del Comit Scout Mundial, Harold Friend, Presidente del directorio de la
Fundacin Scout Interamericana y Scott Teare, Director de la Divisin Internacional de los Boy Scouts
of America, quien fue el anfitrin de la reunin.
Participaron en la reunin Michael Bradshaw, Presidente; Fernando Brodeschi, Primer Vicepresidente;
Kent Clayburn, segundo Vicepresidente; los miembros del CSI: Diego Ospina, Oswaldo Navas, Gilberto
Mendoza, Stephen Kent, Humphrey Schurman, Rafe Lucado, Leonardo Morales; y Ral Snchez,
Director Regional. Tambin, como invitado estuvo Oscar Palmquist, miembro del Comit Mundial.
Durante ese fin de semana el Comit Scout Interamericano tuvo una sesin muy interesante y
dinmica en la que todos los participantes aportaron sus puntos de vista e ideas para hacer una mejor
Regin Interamericana. Ellos definieron la forma en que trabajarn durante el trienio y asignaron
responsabilidades especficas a cada miembro del CSI.
Michael Bradshaw, quien demostr su capacidad de liderazgo y espritu scout, presidi la reunin,
estableciendo una muy buena manera de trabajar. El nuevo Comit Ejecutivo, compuesto por Michael
Bradshaw, Fernando Brodeschi, Kent Clayburn y Ral Snchez, tambin estableci un nuevo flujo de
trabajo que ha dado buenos resultados.
Se destac la hospitalidad de los Boy Scouts de Amrica. Los participantes de la reunin tuvieron la
oportunidad de visitar el Museo Nacional Scout, donde estn las pinturas scouts originales de Norman
Rockwell, bien conocidas en todo el mundo.
Principales acuerdos:
Creacin de la Subcomisin de Finanzas, presidida por Kent Clayburn.
Invitacin permanente a los responsables de la Red de Jvenes, Coordinador o comunicador
(quien se encuentre ms cercano al lugar) a las reuniones de ISC.

From November 6th to 7th, 2010, the Interamerican Scout Committee met at the headquarters of the
Boy Scouts of America in Irving, Texas, USA. The 10 members and the Regional Director, received the
visit of Rick Cronk, Chairman of the World Scout Committee, Harold Friend, Chairman of the Board of
the Interamerican Scout Foundation and Scott Teare, Director of the International Division of the Boy
Scouts of America, who host the meeting.
The meeting was attended by Michael Bradshaw, Chairman, Fernando Brodeschi, 1st Vice Chairman,
Kent Clayburn, 2nd Vice Chairman, and ISC members: Diego Ospina, Oswaldo Navas, Gilberto
Mendoza, Stephen Kent, Humphrey Schurman, Rafe Lucado, Leonardo Morales and Raul Sanchez,
Regional Director. Also, as guest were Oscar Palmquist, a member of the World Committee.
During this weekend the Interamerican Scout Committee had a very interesting and dynamic session
where all participants contributed with their points of view and ideas to make a better Interamerican
Region. They defined the way they will work during the triennium, assigning specific responsibilities
to each member.
Michael Bradshaw, who demonstrated his leadership ability and scout spirit, chaired the meeting,
setting a very good way of working. The new Executive Committee, composed by Michael Bradshaw,
Fernando Brodeschi, Kent Clayburn and Raul Sanchez, also established a new workflow that is giving
good results.
The hospitality of the Boy Scouts of America was highlighted; the participants of the meeting had
the opportunity to visit the National Scout Museum where the original scout paintings by Norman
Rockwell, well known around the world, are.
Main agreements:
Creation of the Finance Subcommittee, chaired by Kent Clayburn.
Permanent invitation to Youth Network leaders, Coordinator or Communicator (whichever is
closest to the location) to the ISC meetings.

La reunin se celebr en el Centro de Convenciones Estao, sede de la 39 Conferencia Scout
Mundial, los das 9 y 13 de enero de 2011. Michael Bradshaw, Presidente, Fernando Brodeschi, 1er
Vicepresidente, Kent Clayburn, 2. Vicepresidente, Steve Kent, Rafe Lucado, Humphrey Schurman,
Diego Ospina, Oswaldo Navas, Leonardo Morales, Gilberto Morales y Ral Snchez, miembros del CSI,
tambin asistieron. Tambin estuvieron como invitados: Tiche Fernndez, coordinadora de la Red
de Jvenes, Fernanda Vogt, comunicadora de la Red de Jvenes y Felipe de Paulo, Presidente de los
Asesores Juveniles del Comit Scout Mundial.
El Comit Scout Interamericano discuti acerca de algunas cuestiones muy importantes: el proceso
de creacin de la nueva oficina en la Ciudad de Panam, el nuevo Plan Regional que se ha enviado a
las OSN solicitando sus comentarios antes de su lanzamiento, las propuestas de modificacin de la
Constitucin Scout Mundial y la venta de la casa en Santiago, Chile.
Durante la discusin sobre los documentos de la Conferencia se recibi la visita de Derek Polard,
Presidente de la Comisin de la Constitucin para aclarar algunas dudas sobre las propuestas. Se
fortaleci la posicin de que slo hay dos niveles de decisin que son los niveles mundial y nacional.
Tiche Fernndez, present un informe sobre el Foro Mundial de Jvenes Scouts, que tuvo lugar antes
de la Conferencia Scout Mundial.
Principales acuerdos:
El establecimiento de unos indicadores de desempeo para el Director Regional.
Para las prximas Conferencias Scouts Mundiales, los documentos sern traducidos al espaol,
para mejorar la participacin de las Organizaciones Scouts Nacionales de Amrica Latina.
El Foro Interamericano Scout de Jvenes se llevar a cabo antes de la 25 Conferencia Scout
Interamericana en septiembre de 2013 en Argentina.

The meeting was held at the Estao Convention Center, venue of the 39th World Scout Conference on
9th and 13th, January 2011. Michael Bradshaw, Chairman, Fernando Brodeschi, 1st Vice-Chairman,
Kent Clayburn, 2nd Vice-Chairman, Steve Kent, Rafe Lucado, Humphrey Schurman, Diego Ospina,
Oswaldo Navas, Leonardo Morales, Gilberto Morales and Ral Snchez, ISC members, attended.
Also were as guests Tiche Fernndez, Youth Network coordinator, Fernanda Vogt, Youth Network
communicator and Felipe de Paulo, Chairman of the Youth Advisors of the World Scout Committee.
The Interamerican Scout Committee discussed about some very important issues: the process to
establish the new office in Panama City, the new Regional Plan that has been sent to NSOs to ask for
their feedback before its launch, the proposals for changes in the World Scout Constitution, the sale
of the House in Santiago, Chile.
During the discussion about the documents of the Conference was received the visit of Dr. Derek
Polard, President of the Commission of the Constitution to clarify some doubts about the proposals.
Was strengthened the position that there are only two levels of decision which are global and national
levels.
Tiche Fernndez, presented a report about the World Scout Youth Forum, held before the World Scout
Conference.
Main agreements:
Establishment of some performance indicators for the Regional Director.
For the next World Scout Conferences, the documents will be translated to Spanish, to improve
the participation of the Latin-American NSOs.
Interamerican Youth Scout Forum will be held before the 25th Interamerican Scout Conference
in September 2013 in Argentina.

Durante los dias 2 y 3 de abril de 2011, el Comit Scout Interamericano decidi celebrar su reunin en
la Ciudad de Panam - Panam, en la casa 172 ubicada en Ciudad del Saber, nueva sede de la Oficina
Scout Mundial - Regin Interamericana.
El Comit se reuni por primera vez en las nuevas instalaciones, siendo tambin el primer evento
realizado en el interior de la misma. Como primer acto, el sbado 2 de abril, Michael Bradshaw,
Presidente, Fernando Brodeschi, Primer Vice Presidente y Ral Snchez, Director Regional, izaron la
bandera Scout Mundial.
Durante el da, el Comit se reuni para abordar diversos aspectos de suma importancia para nuestra
regin, incluyendo: nuevo equipo profesional para trabajar en la nueva oficina, redes regionales, el
estado de las Organizaciones Scouts Nacionales de la Regin, el Plan Regional y eventos regionales
prximos. El sbado por la noche, los miembros del Comit Scout Interamericano degustaron una
deliciosa cena organizada por el Consejo Nacional de la Asociacin Nacional de Scouts de Panam.
El domingo 3 de abril la reunin se reanud y concluy al medioda.

During April 2011, 2nd and 3th, the Interamerican Scout Committee decided to hold its meeting in
Panama City Panama, at the house located at 172 in Ciudad del Saber (City of Knowledge), the new
home of the World Scout Office - Interamerican Region.
The Committee met for the first time in the new facilities, being also the first event held inside. As the
first act, on Saturday 2 April, Michael Bradshaw - Chairman, Fernando Brodeschi -1st. Vice Chairman
and Ral Snchez - Regional Director, hoisted the World Scout flag.
During the day, the Committee met to address various aspects of the utmost importance to our
region, including: new professional team to work in the new office, regional networks, status of
National Scout Organizations in the Region, Regional Plan and upcoming regional events. On Saturday
night the Interamerican Scout Committee members tasted a delicious dinner hosted by the National
Council of the Scout Association of Panama.
On Sunday April 3 meeting was resumed and concluded at noon.
The meeting was attended by the ISC members: Michael Bradshaw, Fernando Brodeschi, Leonardo
Morales, Diego Ospina, Gilberto Morales, Humphrey Schurman and Rafe Lucado, besides the Regional
Director Raul Sanchez. Also attended as guests: Tiche Fernandez and Fernanda Vogt, Coordinator
and Communicator, respectively, of the Youth Network of the Interamerican Region, Felipe de
Paulo, Chairman of the Youth Advisors of the World Scout Committee and Dan Ownby, World Scout
Committee member.
Main agreements:
Maintain the current regional networks: Youth Programme, Adults in Scouting, Institutional
Development and Youth, and to create the new networks: Environment and Sustainable
Development and Communications.
A volunteer, an executive officer and a committee member will compose the coordinator core of
each network. The role of a member of ISC will be as a consultant.
The regional events always will use the name Interamerican.
The Inter-American Scout Camporee, a scout branch event, which will be held always in
conjunction with the Inter-American Scout Jamboree, but with separate programs, including
moments of interaction.

Como ese fin de semana coincidi con el JOTA-JOTI, el Secretario General se conect para enviar su
mensaje a los millones de Scouts a travs de las ondas de radio.

The meeting was attended by: Michael Bradshaw, Chairman, Fernando Brodeschi, First Vice-

Scout Committee: Diego Ospina, Oswaldo Navas, Gilberto Mendoza, Humphrey Schurman, Rafe

The meeting discussed several interesting topics for the Region, reviewed the progress on the Regional
Plan, the 2011-2012 budget, upcoming regional events, among others. The Interamerican Youth
Network also presented their report of activities.
Since that weekend coincided with JOTA-JOTI, the Secretary-General was connected to send his
message to the millions of Scouts through the radio waves.

The Interamerican Scout Committee held its first ordinary 2012 meeting in the venue of the VIII
Interamerican Scout Summit, in Panama, just one day before the Summit began.
The meeting was attended by: Michael Bradshaw, Chairman, Fernando Brodeschi, First Vice-chairman,
Kent Clayburn, Second Vice-president and the members of the Interamerican Scout Committee: Steve
Kent, Diego Ospina, Oswaldo Navas, Gilberto Mendoza, Humphrey Schurman, Rafe Lucado, Leonardo
Morales and Mr. Raul Sanchez, Regional Director of the World Scout Bureau - Interamerican Region.
Guests who attended were Luc Panissod, Secretary General of the World Organization of the Scout
Movement, Beatrice Fernndez, Coordinator of the Youth Regional Network, Oscar Palmquist, member
of the World Scout Committee, Ricardo Stuber, International Commissioner of the Union of Brazilian

respecto a la Conferencia. Se recibieron los informes de la Red de Jvenes, del Subcomit de
Comunicaciones y de las OSN.

Llevar a cabo un seminario sobre Mensajeros de la Paz en la Oficina de la Regin Interamericana
en Panam, que se celebrar del 26 al 28 de octubre.

got connected by Internet to answer the questions about the next Conference from the Committee

were received.

La nueva sede de la Asociacin Scouts de Colombia se convirti en el lugar donde el Comit Scout
Interamericano celebr su primera reunin del 2013.
La reunin cont con la presencia del Michael Bradshaw, Presidente, Fernando Brodeschi, Primer
Vicepresidente, Kent Clayburn, Segundo Vicepresidente y los miembros del CSI: Leonardo Morales, Oswaldo
Navas, Diego Ospina, Humphrey Schurman, Bill Wallace, Tesorero Regional y Ral Snchez, Director Regional
de la Oficina Scout Mundial - Regin Interamericana. Como invitados estuvieron: Alex Killby, comunicador de
la Red Interamericana de Jvenes y Jos Antonio Hernndez, Presidente del Directorio de la Fundacin Scout
Interamericana. Tambin asistieron a la reunin algunos miembros del Consejo Nacional y la Corte Nacional
de Honor de Scouts de Colombia como anfitriones de la reunin. Ellos estuvieron ah para agradecer al Comit
por haber aceptado reunirse Colombia y para discutir la situacin actual de la Asociacin.
La reunin del Comit comenz el 4 de enero, para comentar sobre diversas cuestiones de gran importancia
para la Regin Interamericana: presupuestos para los aos 2011-2012 y 2012-2013, auditora interna y
externa, actividades llevadas a cabo en 2011, prximos eventos regionales y Fundacin Scout Interamericana.
En la noche del 4 de enero, el Comit detuvo la reunin para asistir a la Ceremonia de apertura del JamCam,
el XIV Jamboree Scout Interamericano y el Primer Camporee Interamericano. Durante la ceremonia, Michael
Bradshaw entreg una placa a los Scouts de Colombia por su centenario. Al da siguiente, la reunin continu
en Bogot, concluyendo en el almuerzo. A continuacin, el Comit volvi a JamCam para compartir un
momento con los Jefes de Delegacin, que estaban reunidos en la Casa de las Amricas. Despus de visitar
el campamento, los miembros del Comit fueron al famoso restaurante Andrs Carne de Res, donde la
comida fue compartida para poner fin a esta primera reunin de 2013.

The new Headquarters of the Scout Association of Colombia became the place where the Interamerican Scout
Committee held its first Regular Session of 2013.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Michael Bradshaw, Chairman, Fernando Brodeschi, First Vice-Chairman,
Kent Clayburn, Second Vice President and members of the ISC: Leonardo Morales, Oswaldo Navas, Diego
Ospina, Humphrey Schurman, Bill Wallace, Regional Treasurer and Ral Snchez, Regional Director of the
World Scout Bureau-Interamerican Region. As guests: Alex Killby, Communicator of Youth Network and Jos
Antonio Hernandez, Chairman of the Interamerican Scout Foundation. Members of the National Board and
National Court of Honor of Colombia as hosts of the meeting also attended the meeting. They thanked the
Committee for having agreed to meet Colombia and to discuss the current situation of the Association.
The committee meeting began on January 4, addressing various issues of great importance to the Interamerican
Region: budgets for the years 2011-2012 and 2012-2013, internal and external audits, activities undertaken
in 2012, upcoming regional events and Interamerican Scout Foundation.
On the night of January 4th, the Committee adjourned the meeting to attend the Opening Ceremony of
JamCam, the XIV Interamerican Scout Jamboree and First Interamerican Camporee. During the ceremony,
Michael Bradshaw presented a plaque to Scouts of Colombia for its Centenary. The next day the meeting
continued in Bogota, concluding at lunchtime. The Committee then moved back to JamCam to share a
moment with the Heads of Delegations, who were gathered at the Casa de las Americas. After visiting the
camp the members of the Committee went to the famous restaurant Andrs Carne de Res, where a meal
was shared to end this first 2013 meeting.

Desde el viernes 7 de junio, muy temprano, comenzaron a llegar los miembros del Comit y los invitados especiales
a esta importante reunin.
El sbado 8, una vez que estuvieron todos, la foto oficial fue tomada, a los pies de la bandera scout ondeando fuera

 En Septiembre de 2011, comenz el proyecto global Mensajeros de la Paz de la Organizacin Mundial
del Movimiento Scout. En Febrero de 2012, durante la VIII Cumbre Scout Interamericana, se hizo el
lanzamiento oficial del proyecto en nuestra Regin.
Mensajeros de la Paz ha sido concebido como una red para la accin, que empodera a los jvenes para
que sean lideres de cambios positivos en sus comunidades a travs del servicio.
El proyecto global Mensajeros de la Paz est integrado por dos componentes: La Red Global y el Fondo.
La Red Global integra a todos los scouts y personas que participan en el proyecto, quienes se conectan
usando una plataforma virtual y las redes sociales para compartir informacin sobre sus proyectos de
servicio y de esa manera crear inteligencia colectiva. El Fondo de Mensajeros de la Paz, es donde las
Organizaciones Scout Nacionales pueden presentar proyectos y solicitar recursos financieros para su
ejecucin, dichos proyectos deber versar sobre temas relacionados a:
Entrenamiento en dilogo
Apoyo a proyectos especficos de paz
Apoyo a jvenes que viven en zonas de conflicto
Fortalecimiento de capacidades
Globalizacin de la Red de Mensajeros de la Paz

The WOSM global project Messengers of Peace (MoP) was started in September 2011. Official launch of
the project in our Region was happened in February 2012, during the VIII Interamerican Scout Summit.
MoP has been conceived as an initiative to stimulate action that empowers young people as leaders of
positive change in their communities through service.
The MoP global project consists of two components: The Global Network and the Fund. The Global
Network brings together all scouts and individuals involved in the global project, connecting them
through the MoP virtual platform and social networks to share information about their service projects
and thus to create a collective intelligence. The MoP Fund provides financial resources to implement
service projects that deal with issues related to:
Training in dialogue
Support for specific peace project
Supporting young people living in conflict zones
Capacity building
Globalization of the Messengers of Peace Network
Interamerica in the Global Network of Messenger of peace
