Content
Activity The students will be creating a timeline of events
that led to the colonization of America in the form
of a mind map. The teacher will show on the
projector how to get to the Mindomo app. The
students will need to include all of the events and
present them in a variety of ways using the date
they happened, and description of event. The
teacher could demonstrate what is expected by
using the Protestant Reformation. The mind map
could say What is the event that sparked the
questioning of the Catholic church, or What
event took place in the 16th century in England?
Pedagogy
Show both questions and let the students know
that there needs to be a mixture of both
questions and that all events should be in order.

USI.5 The student will demonstrate knowledge of the
factors that shaped colonial America by
b) describing life in the New England, Mid-Atlantic, and
Southern colonies, with emphasis on how people
interacted with their environment to produce goods
and services, including examples of specialization and
interdependence;
The Students will be doing a project writing from the
perspective of a famous person if they can find one, or
a created individual from each of the colonies. The
teacher will show the students how to login to the
realtimeboard app, and add the people in their group
to join the board. Each student will receive and email.
They will need to click the link on the email to access
the board. The teacher will make sure each student
knows how to access their collaborative board. The
teacher will show the students different templates that
they can use, and how to add text. Each student will be
assigned to a colony either Southern colonies, New
England, or Mid Atlantic. The students will brain storm
how to organize each of these categories. The students
will pick a famous leader in their colony and through a

Through Mindomo the students can make it to
where they can type in the answers to each event
on the timeline. Let them know that they should
be typing each answer into the mind map. This
will help them practice and recall information as
they type in the answers after creating the mind
map.

the colonies. Each of the above components must be
discussed in the letter. After the group is finished, each
student must add one detail to each of the other two
colonies present.
