TUESDAY
Objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able

b. talk about books with guidance
c. talk about their favourite books in pairs

Class Activities :
Year 6 Crystal a. Pre listening-speaking:
1. Teacher shows a few books to the pupils.
Time 2. Teacher gets the pupils to guess what todays topic is. ---- books
11.50 12.50 3. Teacher randomly calls a few pupils to give titles of books that they have read.
4. Teacher writes the titles on the board.
(60 minutes) 5. Teacher tells the pupils that there are two types of books. (Fiction and non-
fiction). The two types of books can be further divided into many different sub-
types, called genres.
6. Teacher introduces the genres and provides a few examples. (refer to PP
slides)
7. Pupils look at the books. Teacher asks questions. (refer to TB)
8. Then, teacher gets the pupils to guess the type of the book.

b. While listening-speaking:
1. Pupils turn to TB page 2.
2. Teacher reads the dialogue, pupils listen carefully.
3. Teacher asks questions pertaining to the dialogue to check understanding.
4. Teacher divides the pupils into groups.
5. Pupils role-play the dialogue.

c. Post listening and speaking:


1. Pupils look at the 3 story books. (refer to TB page 2)
2. Teacher gets the pupils to talk about the books by asking questions.
3. Teacher guides the pupils to give reasons by referring to conversation
between Idith and Asin.
4. Pupils work in pairs. Pupils talk about their favourite book and give reasons.
5. Teacher randomly calls a few pairs to do the speaking activity.

1. Teacher tells the steps to make a foot puppet. (refer to TB page 10 for
instructions)
2. Teacher distributes materials.
3. Teacher guides the pupils to produce the foot puppets.
4. Teacher randomly calls a few pupils to show their foot puppets to their
friends.
5. Teacher gets the pupils to recite the poem again with actions. Pupils use the
foot puppet.
