ThenewBMW7Seriesisalsoatechnologypioneer.Inotherwords,itfeaturesahostofnew
technologiesandfurtherdevelopeddesignelements.

TheclosedradiatorgrilleandtheprecisecontoursofthehoodlendthefrontofthenewBMW7Series
asportycharacteratfirstglance.Theelegantlinesofthesideviewareemphasizedbythedistinctive
doublecreaseandthehighlightedHofmeisterkink.ThechrometrimstripsattherearandtheLshape
oftherearlightsroundoffthestrikingandconfidentappearanceofthenewBMW7Series.

TheluxuriousinteriorofthenewBMW7Seriesischaracterizedbythequalitycraftsmanshipata
supremelevel,precisesurfacesandacompletelynewfeelingofspaciousness.Thisiscomplemented
bytechnicalhighlightssuchasAmbientlightandBMWTouchCommand.Butitistheseatingcomfort
inparticularthatsetsnewstandardsinthisvehicleclass.

Aparticulartechnicalhighlightofthebodyisthebodystructurewithcarbonreinforcements.Thisis
basedontechnologytransferfromdevelopmentoftheBMWivehicles.Useofcarbonwithitsspecific
materialpropertiesincreasestorsionalrigidityandstrength.Theweightisreducedatthesametime.

TheE23isthefirstBMW7Seriesandwasproducedfrom1977to1986.

ThepassengercellhasadynamicappearanceduetothepronouncedslopeoftheA-pillarandsmooth
rooflinetransitiontotherear.ThislendstheE23asportyyetelegantlook.

Intheinterior,theinstrumentpanelisturnedtowardsthedriver,makingtheoperatingelementseasier
toreach.Thisergonomicallyoptimumdriverorientationhasbecomeadesignfeaturethatistypicalfor
BMW.

TheE23wasinitiallyproducedintheworksinMunichandDingolfing.AsfromDecember1982,
theE23rolledofftheassemblylineonlyinDingolfing,likeallsubsequentBMW7seriesmodels.

TheE32wasproducedfrom1986to1994.

Theharmoniouscontoursandflowingtransitionsatthefront,sideandrearprovidetheE32witha
particularlyelegantlook.Thehorizontallywiderradiatorgrillreinforcesthepresenceofthefrontend.
TheL-shapedrearlightsformthebasisofanimportantBMWdesignelement.

TheE32wasalsothefirstBMW7Seriestobeofferedasalongversionwitha11.4cm/4.5inch
longerbody.

TheE38wasproducedfrom1994to2001.

Thankstoitselegantlines,the3rdgenerationoftheBMW7Serieshasamoreelegantandelongated
appearancethanitspredecessor.

Particularattentionispaidtotherearseatpassengersthroughahostofequipmentanddesigndetails.

Inadditiontothe"normal"longversion(wheelbaseextendedby14cm/5.5inches),theE38wasalso
producedinaversionwitha39cm/15.3inch-longerwheelbaseastheL7.

TheE65wasproducedfrom2001to2008(LCI:2005to2008).

BMWopenedupacompletelynewdesignerawiththeE65.ThefrontendpreservesthetypicalBMW
radiatorgrilleandtwincircularheadlights.Thefrontheadlightsextendelegantlyintothesidecontours.
Thesidecontourexudescalmandelegancethankstothesinglecontinuouslineextendingfromthe
frontthroughtothecompleterearend.TherooflinehasaCoup-likeform.

ThegreatestrevolutioninthevehicleinterioristheiDriveoperatingsystem.Thissystemmadeit
possibletodispensewithalargenumberofbuttons,makingthedrivingareaappearmuchtidier
andclearer.

TheE66isthelongversionoftheE65andwasthereforegivenitsowndevelopmentcode
forthefirsttime.

TheF01/F02wasproducedfrom2008to2015(LCI:from2012).

The5thgenerationoftheBMW7Seriescreatesanevenstrongerpresencethroughitslargeairinlets
andlonghood.Atthesides,thebalancedproportionsareelegantlyextendedbylongitudinallinesand
surfaces.Thewidthoftherearareaisemphasizedtoconveythevehicle'ssportingcharacter.

Aspecialfeatureinthevehicleinterioristheso-calledBlackPanelintheinstrumentpanel.
Thedisplaysandindicatorlightsintheinstrumentclusterarenowlocatedbehindamatt-black

ThebodyshelloftheG12wasdesignedcompletelyasalightweightconstruction.Thefocushereis
onthebodystructureasaso-calledcarboncore.Inadditiontothecomponentsmadeofsteeland
aluminium,thisalsofeaturesnumerousreinforcementsmadeofcarbon.Thedifferentmaterialsare
usedsothattheirspecificcharacteristicsoptimallycomplementeachother.Asaresult,itisaboveall
thematerialmixthatensuresalowweightincombinationwithhighcrashsafety.

Thankstotheintelligentmaterialmix,itwaspossibletoreducetheweightofthebodystructureby
approximately40kg/88lbscomparedwiththeF02.

Whenaflowdrillscrewconnectionhasbeenundone,itmustnotbejoinedagainbymeans
offlowdrillscrews.Thiscouldleadtoaconsiderablereductioninstrength.

Intheeventofarepairaccordingtobodyrepairlevel2and3,theflowdrillscrewsarereplaced

Thesteplessdoorstopholdsthedoorinanyposition.Themomentoffrictionrequiredforthisis
producedby2setscrewswhicharetensionedatthesidesagainsttheretainingstrap.Thesetscrews
areadjustedinproductionandcannotthenbeadjustedagain.Inaddition,2spring-loadedsliding
elementsholdthedoorindefineddetentpositionswhenthevehicleisinclined.Thesepositionsare
determinedbythegeometryoftheretainingstrap.Thecompactdesignofthedoorstopmakesit
possibletoachieveaweightsavingforalldoorstopsofapprox.2.5kg/5.5lbscomparedwiththedoor
stopsonF01/F02.

Thedoorlockoptionallyfeaturesautomaticsoft-close.Emergencyoperationispossibleviathe
integratedlockcylinder.

relievethestrainontheback.Itispossibletochoosebetween3differentintensitylevels.

The8massageprogramscanbedividedinto3categories:

pelvis,upperbodyorfullbody.Duringthemassage,thestrainonthespineisrelievedby
targetedbodymovements.
Relaxation
Therelaxationprogramsofferachoicebetweenthebodyareasofback,shouldersorlumbar
region.Themusclesarerelaxedbythemassage.
Vitalization
Thevitalizationprogramscomprisemobilisationandrelaxationelements.Theoccupantcan
choosebetweenthebodyareasofupperbodyandfullbody.Thecombinationofmovement
andmassageensuresoptimumrelaxationandrecuperationparticularlyonlongjourneys.
