RF Engineer
RF Engineer Job Overview. Radio frequency
engineering involves the design, production
and maintenance of telecommunications
equipment. These engineers work with
broadcasting devices, cell phone schematics,
wireless Internet networks and other systems
to keep the lines of communication open
What is the job of RF engineer?

Radio-frequency engineering is a subset of

Electronics engineering that deals with
devices that are designed to operate in the
radio frequency (RF) spectrum. These devices
operate within the range of about 3 kHz up to
300 GHz.
Radio Frequency Signals
Radio Frequency (RF)
RF signals are high frequency alternating current
(AC) signals composed of electromagnetic energy.
Imagine dropping a rock into a still pond and
watching the concentric ripples flow away from
the point where the rock hit the water. This is
how RF waves exit an antenna.

Examples
FM Radio Stations transmit @ 6000 to 100,000 watts,
Microwave Ovens @ 700- 1000 watts,
Cell phones @ tenths of a watt to 1 watt,
Wireless 802.11 networks @1-200 milliwatts
1 milliwatt = 1/1000 of a watt

Simulation softwares
1. Advanced Design System (ADS)
Advanced Design System is the worlds leading
electronic design automation software for RF,
microwave, and high speed digital applications.
In a powerful and easy-to-use interface, ADS
pioneers the most innovative and commercially
successful technologies, such as X-parameters
and 3D EM simulators, used by leading
companies in the wireless communication &
networking and aerospace & defense industries.
2. Microwave Office

Renowned for its intuitive user-interface, the

unique architecture of Microwave Office software
seamlessly integrates powerful, innovative tools
and technologies with application-specific tools
from partner companies to bring their high-
frequency designs to life quickly and easily.
Microwave Office software represents the future
of high-frequency design.
3. HFSS

ANSYS HFSS software is the industry standard

for simulating 3-D, full-wave, electromagnetic
fields. Its gold-standard accuracy, advanced
solvers and high-performance computing
technologies make it an essential tool for
engineers tasked with executing accurate and
rapid design in high-frequency and high-speed
electronic devices and platforms.
4. Microwave Soft
MicrowaveSoft Inc. offers solutions for
electromagnetic design challenges. They
provide you with full wave 3D finite element
simulation software both for high and low
frequency.
5 . MATLAB

Millions of engineers and scientists worldwide

use MATLAB to analyze and design the
systems and products transforming our world.
It is used for machine learning, signal
processing, image processing, computer
vision, communications, computational
finance, control design, robotics, and much
more.
