Activity
Through this activity, students will learn how to explore and
gather information necessary for writing a paper in the genre
that they are most interested in after reading the assigned
pieces of literature. The teacher will present the class with many
different styles of narratives so that students have examples to
look over. Examples will include, The Raven by Edgar Allan
Poe, The Ministers Black Veil by Nathaniel Hawthorne, and
chapters of The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank.

Students will begin the writing process by creating a Prezi to

collect ideas for topics. There are several templates specifically
for brainstorming, but students will be allowed to use the
format they feel comfortable using.

Students will use their Prezis as a place to collect and

organize ideas for topics as well as helping them recognize who
would be their audience. They will practice strategies such as
free writing and mind mapping.

These brainstorm projects will be presented either in small

groups or as a class to allow students further opportunities to
discuss their work and determine their topic, as well as become
