so are we going to do something like internet recruitment, and what draws people to use the new online
resources? or- how recruitment is optimized by the use of online resources? Im trying to recall all of the
categories the professor drew up on the board.. but here are some topics that affect people deciding to
apply online through a specific company.

-Modernized/up to date websites will draw in more users because they have many qualities that make the
online application process easier and more effective. These qualities could be how visual appealing the
website is, functionality of the websites (websites that are broken/slow may cause frustration within users
to the point they lose interest in applying). Websites that are more modern also show that the company
has interest in staying current to technology. In a sense, the more visual appealing the better.

-Informative websites; many users might not want to just apply to any job just because they need a job.
Most people looking for a job that arent in dire need will look through the job description, organizational
information, and any other information that may pertain to the job/company as a whole. In my opinion, if I
was looking for a job online and trying to decide which companies I seriously wanted to apply for, the
more information the better

-The companys reputation also has a lot to do with it as well. A bigger name will be able to more
efficiently and effectively present itself by simply having a popular name that everyone trusts vs a newer
no name company. But at the same time, companies can use specific internet tools to boost their rep
online, and make their company appear just as professional as the big dogs in any industry. For instance,
mastering Google Search Optimization(the art of picking key words on pages to show up at the top of
searches blah blah blah) will make a company appear more official by showing up as the first
organization listed for its industry. I believe this could go hand in hand with the modernized category, but
it can also make the company seem more official, therefore helping the rep of the company out for first
time visitors and those looking to apply for a position.

Ideas for topic:
* I figured we could just throw some ideas around to have something to go off of thursday

1. How questions can be engineered in the interview process to ensure the candidate has the
desired traits the company wants.
A. Do engineered questions really work?
1. Can people lie to give a representation of themselves they believe the
company would find positive?
2. Can interviewers spot lies through conflicting responses?

What recruitment sources/labor markets increases the chances of having the best applicant pool?
Internet Recruitment, Competitive Recruitment (the book uses having in-store applications or online
application kiosks to promote customers applying sporadically or on impulse to maximize the applicant
pool), Employment Agencies such as temporary work companies that find jobs for the applicants, Job
fairs and internships for both current students and college grads.

All of these labor markets can affect the applicant pool in the recruitment process; and depending on the
desired qualifications and applicants some might be more effective than others.

AUSTIN: I think that's exactly where he wanted us to go with it, and I think we will still be able to find
plenty of information. He did say that we needed to email our ideas to him so what are we gonna send?
