    The past simple tense is used to describe actions that were completed in the past, such as yesterday or last year.     PAST SIMPLE ( TRECUT SIMPLU)

    Utilizare: Pentru actiuni complet terminate, realizate intr-o perioada bine determinata din trecut.
    (yesterday, last year, two days ago etc).

    Cum se formeaza:

    a) VERB+ed --> pentru verbele regulate.

    b) forma a 2-a a verbelor neregulate --> pentru verbele neregulate.

    EX: write wrote


    Play-played

    Reguli atunci cand vorbim de forma de trecut a verbelor regulate:

    1. Cand verbul se termina in consoana-vocala-consoana si este monosilabic, ultima consoana se


    dubleaza si adaugam ed.

    Ex: to stop stopped

    2. Daca verbul se termina in c, adaugam k inainte de ed:

    Ex: to panic - panicked

    3. Daca verbul se termina in consoana +Y = i+ed, daca verbul se termina in vocala+ Y =Y+ed.

    Ex. To play played


    To try tried

    4. Daca verbul se termina in L, dublam consoana L indiferent de forma verbului.


    Ex: to control-controlled

    5. Daca verbul se termina in E, se adauga doar d.


    Ex. To move - moved

    Formare:
    Afirmativ: S+VB F2/ED

    I wrote a letter yesterday.

    I played tennis yesterday.

    Negativ: S+DID+NOT (DIDNT) + VB F1

    I did not write a letter yesterday.

    I did not play tennis yesterday.

    Interogativ: DID+S+VB F1

    Did I write a letter yesterday?

    Did I play tennis yesterday?
