SAP MDG Deployment alternatives

On-premise v.s. Cloud

In a dialogue with Leading Advisor for 'SAP/ERP and Leading Advisor for 'Cloud',
we have evaluated an on-premise v.s. private cloud deployment of Statoil's MDG
solution.
MDG as a 'hub' or as an add-on to ERP
Due to Statoils single instance (centralized ERP, for Finance and Logistics) setup, a
co-deployment of SAP MDG 8.0 with single SAP ERP would be the preferred
scenario, provided that potential restrictions were acceptable.
Our motivation has been to keep the number of system lines and the system
landscape complexity down, and at the same time benefit from the fact that we have
a single-instance, corporate ERP installation.
The co-location approach was supported by Statoil's 'SAP Landscape Team', and
verified and supported by SAP's technical MDG experts.
