Teaching Strategies Description of teaching strategy / How Ive incorporated the

technology.
Use of Interactive white Over the course of my experience in creating and implementing
boards teaching and learning expirees the use of interactive white boards
has been a major tool that I have had the opportunity to use. In both
- Flipcharts the early years and Primary aged students.
- Online games
- Videos Experience of incorporating interactive white boards in the Early
- Images years
- Books
- Reads aloud. During my practical experience at a Good Start Early Learning center
the kindergarten class that I was placed in had access to an
interactive white board. While much of the teaching activities were
selected, and designed by the students based upon their interest, I
could select a range of programs that the students participated in.
Therefore, I could expand upon the students interest based upon
their interest and current learning. The programs selected involved
mathematics, science, building patterns, cooking, reading, music.
allowed myself to engage students using ICT and technology. This also
allowed myself to expand upon the student interest and learning such
as the childrens exploration of natural phenomena. Where images
were used to show storms, volcanos vs man made items such as fire
trucks and roads.

Experience of incorporating interactive white boards in the Primary

years

Interactive whiteboards moving into the primary years use was vastly
different to its use in the early childhood setting. I had more control
over the content that I was providing the students streamlining what
they were exploring and had to source more appropriate content
which would actively engage students and their learning. This then
lead me to using the online resources of programs such as behind the
news for research into natural disasters. Other way in which I
incorporated the interactive white board was the use of number
generators for mathematics examining probability and chance. The
use of the flip boards feature to highlight specific words and features
of a text. The further comparison on having multiple examples on the
board to highlight specific contrasting ideas. Furthermore, the use of
videos to demonstrate skits to demonstrate features of improvisation
in drama. These are just some of the ways that I have incorporated
the use of the interactive white board and expand students learning
using ICT.

Tablets The use of an iPad within the classroom opens the students to a
- IPad range of different learning opportunities. This includes
- Tablet
- Apps - Taking photos, videos
- Creating media presentation.
- Access to a range of information and content immediately.
- Support for students who require differentiation.
- Access to documents.
- Online communication between stakeholders.

Practical experience Grade six iPad class

During a practical experience at bounty Boulevard state school I had

to opportunity to experience an iPad class. Through this Students
learning was expanded and support given to those whom required it.
The use of the iPad was incorporated into most the classes. This
allowed me to expand upon the students learning through providing
directs and access to a range if online resources that students could
access including document through Showbie, information and new
reports through the credible source of Behind the New, and scientific
examples through Scootle that were connected to the C2C curriculum
that the school used.

Screen Presenting: PowerPoint

Presenting on a screen
I will often incorporate the use of presenting a lesson on a
- Power point. technological screen using a power point or Prezi. The use of a
- Prezi. presentation teaching while using a screen has aided me in the
- Impress following ways through expanding students understanding the
- Think Free curriculum

- Provides a visual aid for students supporting a multilayered

learning environment.
- Highlights the key point for student without excess
information.
- Used as stimulis rather than tool to load martin into
students heads.
- Can provide more lateral understudying of concepts and
understanding.
- Provides a change to introduce music, images, video and
other triggering stimuli.
- Can also be used to provide instruction on activities and
questions for students to answer.

Concept mapping Over the course of my education and experience the use of concept
- Poppet mapping Through technology provides an excellent teaching start
- VUE interface. through providing

- Visual representation if idea.

- Shows links between ideas and key concepts.
- Can be used as a formative assessment tool.

Games/ online Learning The use of online games and resources provides an engaging lesson
resources. and activity and teaching strategies.

Science Theoretical lesson plan example: ABC detox Catchment

game

The lesson plan examined the catchment of an area. This activity was
designed to introduce the concept of how certain aspects of a
catchment interact with each other through and online forum and
game. The student had so many moves and had to balance economics
of a catchment through farming and selling natural resources to build
infrastructure and promote lifestyle while preserving the
environment at the same time. This incorporation of ICT Through the
lesson provided the students with an understanding of how these
different stakeholders interact and affect an area of a catchment in a
creative way. This game can also provide some form of assessment if
continually used as it shows how students ideas change as they
progress through the unit by the changes they make in the
catchment.
