Assist with the multi-component nutrition program, the Shaping Healthy
Choices Program, by helping with data collection involving anthropometrics,
vegetable preferences, and plate waste digital imagery, as well as
participating in a health fair.
Lead researcher on designing an evaluation for physical activity lessons,
entitled Healthy Choices in Motion, designed to complement the Shaping
Healthy Choices Program. These lessons have the ability to be technology-
enhanced with wearable physical activity devices.
Lead investigator on a project that builds upon the school-based, multi-
component intervention, the Shaping Healthy Choices Program, which is
currently being piloted for efficacy through partnership with UC CalFresh.
As part of this partnership, a supplemental set of physical activity lessons
was developed with an optional technology component utilizing wearable
activity monitoring devices. These personal activity monitoring devices will
be utilized as a platform for delivering and evaluating gain-framed and loss-
framed health-related messages compared to receiving no messages. It is
hypothesized that the students receiving gain-framed messages will have
greater improvements in health outcomes compared to those receiving loss-
framed or no messages.
