Behavior Contingency Plan: We Arr Orderly

Undesirable Behavior Targeted: The undesirable behavior is the lack of discipline or awareness in cleaning
up and organizing materials after an activity. This interferes with learning because classroom materials are
misplaced or misused, and time is spent rummaging through areas when it could be spent for lessons or work. In
addition, students have a tendency to argue over supplies or get carried away visiting with others when
searching around the room. The goal for this BCP is loss prevention and time management.

Desirable Behavior Targeted:

1. Have a clear workspace to begin activity.
2. Place personal and classroom supplies back in their homes when finished.
3. Compile and dispose trash.
4. Throw away markers or other supplies that are no longer effective.
5. Contribute during cleanup time.
6. Clear workspace in preparation for teachers instruction.

Types of Positive Reinforcements:

1. Immediate R+ will be given to students caught in the act of displaying the above desirable behaviors.
The immediate reinforcements come in the form of a gold coin. The student will place the gold coin
themselves on the board. The teacher will be cautious to reinforce all students.
2. Ongoing R+ is given to students when there are ten gold coins earned on the board. For ten gold coins,
students earn a piece of the map (5 total), landmarks in the route corresponding with items in legend (5),
compass/orientation points (4), and after, 20 gold coins earns the first clue to the treasure hunt.
3. Overall R+ is implemented by a treasure hunt through the school leading outdoors for a sensory
treasure search.
4. Immediate and Ongoing R+ will be quickly and easily administered because clean-up is usually placed
at a transition point or at the end of an activity. The teacher will have an easy to use way to record data
through Velcro attached materials on the board.
Interactive Learning Activity: The final R+ of the activity is implemented by a treasure hunt using the map,
legend, compass, and first clue that the class has earned. The students will be led around the school by 5
clues/destinations. The final destination is outdoors with three sensory centers: sand play, boats in foamy water,
and defrosting a large ice block filled with toys with warm water.
TEKS: 2nd Grade b5A) Interpret information on maps and globes using basic map elements such as title,
orientation (north, south, east, west), and legend/map keys.

Teach the Desired Behaviors: The teacher will survey the undesired habits of students during clean-up time.
Prior to showing the board, the teacher will model good clean-up behaviors in her own practice by preparing
and participating with guided talk moves in activities with the students.

Teach the Plan: During the board discussion, the teacher will revisit good clean-up behaviors by reading and
modeling the desired habits listed. The teacher will continue modeling and reinforcing through instruction and
will verbalize what the student is doing when reinforced with a gold coin on the board.

Optional: Teachers may utilize this model for other behaviors such as talking at appropriate times. This would
include desired behaviors such as raising hand when another is talking, being engaged in pair or group work,
and self-correcting when the student does talk at inappropriate times.

Necessary items: Board, Velcro, written clues, drawn map, scissors, markers
