Supplies needed EVERYDAY

PENCILS

CALCULATOR- TI-30xs is an excellent calculator for this class because it simplifies radical
(square roots). We will learn to simplify radicals by hand at the end of the year, but we will
utilize radicals throughout the course of the year. (I do have some calculators for student use.)

Course Expectations:

1. Each student is expected to be on time, and prepared class. There will be some hands-
on and group activities that will contribute to student engagement.
2. Bathroom breaks need to occur between classes so that students do not miss out on
class instruction. However, the students will at times have an emergency and will be
allowed to go to the restroom with the following provision.
-Students must stay in class during the first and last ten minutes of class time. (School
Rule)
-Each student will have at most 3 emergencies during a nine week period. After those
are exhausted. The student may not leave class.
-Student may not leave more than once per week.
-Students must wait until direct instruction is over to ask for a restroom break.
3. All tests are to be completed on the day they are assigned. If you are absent the day of
the quiz or test, you may make up the test after school WITHIN A WEEK OF MISSING
CLASS. Students that are absent the day before a test are still responsible to take the
test on the given day (no new information will be on the test if it is covered the previous
period.)

Class work/Homework
Students will be able to check their answers for assignments. Student work must be shown
to receive credit.
We will have formative tests and quizzes throughout the unit of study.

Class Policies:

Grading:

The Nine Week Grades will be calculated each 9 weeks as follows

60% Tests and Quizzes

40% Class work and Homework

Semester Grade: The two 9 Weeks Grades will be averaged and count as 80% of the
semester grade while the comprehensive semester final will count as 20%.

Expectations

Be in your seat, and quiet when the bell rings.

Raise your hand and wait to be called on when you have a question that is on task. I
will call on you when there is a natural break in the lesson being taught
If you have a question that is off task (restroom break, makeup work, etc.) wait until
direct instruction is over to address these concerns.
If you do not agree with anything that I am doing during class, wait to the end of the
period and discuss your concern with me.
