This annual report shows the performance of the Provincial Economic Enterprise Development
and Management Office (PEEDMO) in accomplishing its goals for the year 2016.

REVENUE GENERATION

Income from economic enterprises From 2011 to 2016, PEEDMO was able

SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING AND INFORMATION CAMPAIGN

Part of its innovative approach in mark eting and pro motion,


PEEDMO created Facebook fan pages of its managed
facilities which caters to a growing number of supporters in
the Philippines and around the globe. There is also an FB
page for the youth development initiative of the province.

EVENT
Number of events facilitated by PEEDMO
inside the Provincial Sports Complex which
include activities in the Provincial Gym,
MANAGEMENT Grandstand and Mini-theater.

Inaugurated last May 2015 and
considered to be the biggest
Negosyo Center in the country,
the LGU-initiated Surigao del
Norte Negosyo Center aids in
fostering national development,
promoting inclusive growth and
reducing poverty by encouraging
MSMEs in order to facilitate
local job creation, production
and trade in the province. The
center which is the brainchild of
Governor Sol Matugas provides
services on business registration
assistance, business advisory
services, business information
and advocacy. It is also one of
the promising source of income
of PEEDMO.

ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT
The Surigao del Norte Negosyo Center in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry has conducted
more than 30 trainings in 2016 to cater to the entrepreneurial needs of its clients in the province.

HOW TO START A SMALL BUSINESS

Regular seminars on How to Start a Small B usiness


have been conducted in the Negosyo Center and to
other parts of the province to guide those who want to
build their own businesses.

BASIC FINANCIAL LITERACY


Series of Financial Literacy Workshops were also
conducted province-wide to educate students,
employees and entrepreneurs on proper financial
management,

BASIC DORMITORY MANAGEMENT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE SEMINAR

We also conducted Basic Customer Service Seminar and Dormitory Management Training
to Siargao Island Dormitory Employees.

FERMENTED FISH PROCESSING PROJECT FOR THE COASTAL COMMUNITIES
OF SIARGAO ISLAND, SURIGAO DEL NORTE

The Fermented Fish Processing Project was


conducted in General Luna, Siargao Island to
develop the famous local product of Siargao
Island- the fermented fish or ginamos. This
was done in partnership with the Department
of Science and Technology Caraga Region.

The simple bookkeeping and recording semi-


nar was conducted to teach the participants on
the process of recording and summarizing financial
transactions into a usable form that provides finan-
cial information about a business or an individual.

BARANGAY ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM (BEEP)

Target Barangay Prioritization Meeting and Program Review Workshop were conducted in 2016 regarding the
flagship project of the Economic S ector of the HEALS Plus Convergence Agenda the Barangay Econo mic
Empowerment Program (BEEP). It is aimed to alleviate poverty by providing entrepreneurial services to the
subsistence level households of DSWD's 4Ps Program, making them more economi cally independent.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT MEETINGS/PARTNERSHIPS

PEEDMO also facilitated various economic development meetings in 2016 and acted as Secretariat for the 25th Mindanao
Business Con feren ce in partnersh ip with the Surigao Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

PUHUNAN SA PAG ASENSO

The financial mechanism for the BEEP Program of Gov. Sol F.


Matugas, the Puhunan sa Pag-asenso(PSP) is the provincial
governments way of helping the people provide capital for
their businesses. The PSP Team has conducted Orientation
Programs as well as Basic Financial Literacy Seminars to the
applicants and recipients.

INVESTMENT PROMOTION and LOCAL COMPETITIVENESS

As part of the Provincial Governments efforts


in creating an economically enabling
environment in the province, Investment
Promotion Meetings were conducted in 2016
with Mainland and Siargao Island LGUs
involving their Municipal Planning and
Development Coordinators (MPDC), Local
Economic and Investment Promotion Officers
(LEIPO) in partnership with DILG and DTI.
Investment Code Review and consultations
were also made with municipalicities. Together
with DTI and PPDO, PEEDMO also facilitates the
Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness
Index (CMCI).

CAPITOL MOVERS FOR DEVELOPMENT

ECONOMIC
ENTERPRISE CLUB

The Economic Enterprise Club of the Capitol Movers for Development which was created by virtue of
Memorandum Order No. 137 aims to spearhead the conceptualization, administration and management of
business enterprise and income generation projects designed to improve the financial and economic capability of
the Provincial Capitol employees. Considered to be one of the most active clubs in the Provincial Capitol, the
Economic Enterprise Club joined the Training on Advanced Meat Processing and Good Manufacturing which was
facilitated and sponsored by the Provincial Veterinary Office with the assistance from the Department of Trade and
Industry. Because of the income-generating activities of the club, their intial capital of P 2,100 now rose to P17,000.

PROVINCIAL BAND AND PEEDMO


CHOIR
Considered as a musical department because of its own
choir and being the home of the Provincial Band, PEEDMO
develops the talents of its employees, increase their self-
esteem and foster organizational unity by performing in
various activ ities and during mass. In 2016, the Provincia l
Band was able to giv e 121 performances.

PEEDMO MINI-FARM
We have maintained our PEEDMO Mini-Farm
at the Provincial Sports Complex which is
being managed by our employees who are
Persons with Disabilities(PWDs). With seedlings
from the Provincial Agriculture Office, we
were able to plant and harvest various
vegetables and fruits.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Recognizing the big role of the youth in the development of the province, we initiated youth de-
velopment projects and coordinated with other agencies in harmonizing all efforts to develop
the youth of Surigao del Norte.
In partnership with the
30th Infantry Battalion of
the Philippine Army, we
took part in the Municipal
Youth Leadership Summit
in Malimono last September
30 to October 2 where Mr.
Jherson Serna, a youth
leader and casual employee
assigned at PEEDMO
presented the programs
and services of the
Provincial Government to
the youth.

The first ever Youth Development


Convergence event in Surigao
entitled, Para sa Karadjawan: Jari
na kami! took place last December
3, 2016 at the Provincial Sports
Complex. The event aspired to
revitalize the zeal of the youth in
carrying out their mission in the
development of their communities by
signifying their willingness to be part
of the development of Surigao.

We also conducted a Meeting with the Academe regarding the possible collaborations with the youth
development programs and activities of the province .
