Catholics do express their faith in God.

Christmas & Epiphany

Christmas in the Philippines, Filipinos like to say, stretches
longer than anywhere else in the world, from September to
January with carols and gift-giving, novenas and Masses,
feasts and processions.

Feast of the Black Nazarene

Every year on January 9, millions of Filipinos gather in
Manila for a procession of the Black Nazarene. Few
religious celebrations anywhere in the world can match this
feast in terms of the number and fervor of devotees
surrounding the procession.

Flores de Mayo and Santacruzan

Across the Philippine archipelago, a tradition known as
Flores de Mayo, a daily offering of flowers to Mary, the
mother of Jesus, is observed throughout the month of May.
Typically the celebration culminates with a Santacruzan,
part beauty pageant and part religious feast that marks the
finding of the True Cross by Reyna Elena, or the queen St.
Helena.

Holy Week & Easter

During Holy Week, Filipino devotional culture takes on an
especially penitential tone, in ways that particularly reflect
its Spanish colonial heritage, and even its pre-Christian
heritage, but have continued to evolve over the years.
Filipinos who tend not to be fully observant liturgically the
rest of the year see it as very important to participate in
liturgies and devotions this week.

1
Feast of the Immaculate Conception
December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, is
celebrated with particular attention and ceremony in the
Philippine Catholic Church. Filipino Catholics have an
especially strong devotion to Mary. Devotees attribute many
miracles to her.
