Learning Environments

Group project module 8

Learning Environments Explained
Think about what impact your environment has on you; the things you do or dont
do. The things you believe or dont believe. The things you want or dont want. Just
as well, a student is influenced by the learning environment.
The learning environment is not just a space or place where the learning takes
place. It also involves people (teachers, parents, peers, community), the tools (from
pencils to furniture to building and surroundings) and the policies (support system,
rules).
A healthy learning environment will have a positive effect on the students learning
and the same goes the other way around.
As a teacher you can work on improving the learning environment by, for example,
changing classroom dcor or seating arrangement. Or by learning to say Hi in the
students mother tongue.
Grade Level & Topic

We chose language: Dutch - 13 year old students

The grade level we would like to try this is: 2nd grade junior high

The subject is: proverbs

Topic
Learning goal: at the end of the lesson the students can make a comic in
groups with toondoo about every proverb. At the end of the lesson the
students illustrated the proverbs in toondoo.

Introduction: We will show the students a video where several proverbs are
illustrated.

Instruction: Combine the proverbs in row one with the answers in row 2

How can ICT help?
Show the student some examples how they can depict the proverbs. And at
the evaluation the students can make a comic of each proverb with toondoo
in groups.
