PROJECT 5
8/3/17
TEKS
(6) Geometry and measurement. The student applies mathematical process standards to
analyze attributes of two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional solids to develop
generalizations about their properties. The student is expected to:

(A) identify two-dimensional shapes, including circles, triangles, rectangles, and squares as
special rectangles;

(B) identify three-dimensional solids, including cylinders, cones, spheres, and cubes, in the real
world;

(C) identify two-dimensional components of three-dimensional objects;

(D) identify attributes of two-dimensional shapes using informal and formal geometric language
interchangeably;

(E) classify and sort a variety of regular and irregular two- and three-dimensional figures
regardless of orientation or size; and

(F) create two-dimensional shapes using a variety of materials and drawings.

Transformation

Definition- Changing a shape using reflection, rotation, or dialation.

Description- The pre-image is moved a certain amount of points
across the given point of axis.
The original shape of the object is called the pre-image and the
final shape and position of the object is under the transformation
itself.
Example of Transformation
In these examples, the original triangle has
been transformed from one side of the graph
to another.

Translation

Definition Sliding or moving a shape without rotating or flipping it

Description- A Translation is when the pre- image has been move
up, down, left right depending on what the problem has asked.
Every point in the object must be moved in the same direction and
the same difference
Example of Translation

This was made in Geo Sketch on

8/3/17 abd rotated 30.0 degrees. This is made by Geo sketch on 8/3/17
and was rotated 60.0 degrees.

Reflection

Definition- When a shape is flipped over the line of reflection.

Description- The shape must stay the same size but face in opposite
directions.
Reflection Example

This was made on Geo Sketch on 8/3/17

Rotation

Definition- Shape revolves around a point.

Description- The object must stay the same size, but will be located
in a different quadrant.
