What is the TV Rheinland Functional Safety Training Program?

An extended vocational training program institutionalized by the business unit Automation and Functional
Safety (AFS) of TV Rheinland together with international course providers to support knowledge, know-how
and expertise transfer to engineers working in the field of functional safety. Our aim is to achieve a global, clear
and uniform standard of competence towards compliance to the requirements of IEC 61508, IEC 61511 and
further relevant international standards. (See more information at www.tuvasi.com ).

Participants of the Schneider Electric FSEC training course will receive, upon successful completion, a FS
Engineer (TV Rheinland) certificate.

Course Instructors are approved FS Experts (TV Rheinland) in SIS according to the requirements of
the TV Rheinland Functional Safety Program.

Global Coordinator: Farshad Hendi, FS Expert (TV Rheinland, # ID No. 0190/12, SIS, FSM)

Who should attend: Engineers involved in any part of the SIS Safety Lifecycle

Participant eligibility requirements (use form ER04):

In accordance with the TV Rheinland Functional Safety Training Program:
A minimum of 3 to 5 year experience in the field of functional safety
University degree or equivalent engineer level responsibilities status as certified by employer

Course duration:
Four (4) days - The first three days are classroom setting instruction that provides detailed information and
examples/discussions for understanding and mastering the requirements of IEC61508 / IEC61511 functional
safety. Evening study time and problem solving is recommended.

Exam:
The last day consists of a two-part examination:
A- 130 multiple choice questions
B- 5 working problems

Course approval criteria:

Passing score is 75%

Training Investment:
Total price per participant for USA venues is US $3,200(Includes course material, registration fees and TV
Rheinland certificate) For international venues, pricing will be established in local currency by our local office.

Training and Certificate:

Registration: Use the following link for registration:

Course and exam: Participants who complete the Schneider Electric FSEC training course continuously in an
Instructor-Classroom setting and meet the approval criteria for the proficiency examination on management of
functional safety, safety instrumented systems, are eligible to receive a FS Engineer (TV Rheinland)
certificate.

TV Rheinland Assessment: Upon review of the final exam documents and verification that all the eligibility
requirements have been met, TV Rheinland issues the FS Engineer (TV Rheinland) certificate.

Archiving: TV Rheinland officially archives exams and documentation of each holder of a FS Engineer (TV
Rheinland) certificate.

Internet Posting: Successful participants of the Schneider Electric FSEC training class who are holders of a
FS Engineer (TV Rheinland) certificate will receive an ID number from TV Rheinland, which is also depicted
on their certificate, and will be listed on the www.tuvasi.com internet site. The listing will positively identify and
confirm the status of the FS Engineer (TV Rheinland) certificate. (i.e. valid, pending, canceled, revoked)

Validity: The FS Engineer (TV Rheinland) certificate is valid for 5 years.

After expiration, a revalidation directly with TV Rheinland involves submittal of documentation of proof of
continuous work in the field of functional safety.

Why should I attend:
