I would prefer working with a small group while being with the elected official since if that small

group is
well organized then it would have a significant impact than a larger one. It can be said that the smaller
groups that have more intensity of feeling can have a strong influence which is quite potential than the
numbers can suggest. If the small group is preferred, the marginal contribution for each member would
be quite larger so that there is a reduction in the free riders. Moreover, with the advancement of
information technology and internet, there is found to be an easier communication within the smaller
groups which further makes the mobilization quite easier. When the benefits of the smaller size are
reinforced by the members that have a significant stake within the policy outcomes, then such a smaller
group can get to be quite powerful. Larger groups are found to be quite ineffective than the smaller
groups because smaller groups have numerous organizational advantages, for instance, consumer
groups are found to be less effective due to many people also known as the potential members of the
group that can fall under such a group which would make it difficult to organize. Moreover, people
receiving the collective good earned through an interest group cannot see a reason for participating in a
group as they can benefit without doing any sort of work which indicates that the larger the group is,
the larger the collective good.
