This document was prepared by the Department of Infrastructure and specifies the general
standards of materials and workmanship required by the Department for roadworks. It brings
together standard terminology and methods for roadworks work across all regions of the Northern
Territory.
The text has been edited to specify only the types of roadworks performed by the Department and
is applicable to all regions of the Northern Territory. The text has been developed through
consultation with Department of Infrastructure officers with extensive experience in civil works in
the Northern Territory.
This Standard Specification will remain unchanged until an updated version is published.

Only those parts of the Standard Specification which refer to the works being carried out apply and those
items listed in the Schedule of Rates which is attached to the Response Schedules for the particular
Contract. This document may be used as a blanket reference specification referring generally to the
standards of materials and workmanship required by the Department for roadworks.
PRECEDENCE
Any provision in the project specification or on the project drawings shall override any conflicting provision in
this Standard Specification.
