0 Engage in risk taking to improve schools

Element 3.2

Artifact 1.1.1

8/7/17 - 8/24/17 (1 Hour)

During the planning and implementing of summer school the teachers took risk in
planning the material to meet the needs of a diverse group. When I walked into each of the five
(5) classrooms each lesson was tailored to a wide group of needs.

The groupings of the summer school classrooms;

Classroom #1 Kindergarten and Grade 1 students.

Classroom #2 2nd grade students.
Classroom #3 3rd grade students
Classroom #4 4th and 5th grade students
Classroom #5 was ENCORE so the primary class was K-2 students and the
intermediate class was 3 - 5.

I was able to brainstorm ideas to allow teachers the most creative way to try to keep the
neediest students class size smaller. The staff did a wonderful job at creating engaging lessons
that allowed for students to be motivated to attend summer school. Of the 85 students that
completed the application for summer school 56 of them attended. These 56 students with the
exception of maybe one or two absent due to vacations attended the entire three week
program. This will help these students get a head start to the upcoming 2017-2018 school
year.
