Course Materials
Curriculum: Secondary One: An Integrated Approach
Required Materials: Current unit (supplied by LVMS), and pencil with eraser. All should be brought to class daily
Recommended Materials: It is strongly encouraged that students have a math notebook (graph paper preferred),
colored pencils, highlighter and glue

Course Description
The fundamental purpose of Integrated Math 1 is to formalize and extend the mathematics that students learned in the
middle grades. Instructional time will focus on six critical areas: (1) extend understanding of numerical manipulation to
algebraic manipulation; (2) synthesize understanding of function; (3) deepen and extend understanding of linear
relationships in part by comparing them to exponential relationships; (4) apply linear models to data that exhibit a linear
trend; (5) establish criteria for congruence based on rigid motions; and (6) apply the Pythagorean Theorem to the
coordinate plane.

Grading Breakdown (subject to change) Classroom Guidelines

Classwork: Students will self-assess their

Quizzes 30 % Stamp Sheet the following Monday.
Tests 40 % Quizzes*: Will be assigned as needed throughout
Total: 100% each unit. Quizzes vary in format, including
Partner, Individual and Group
Tests*: Will be assigned at the end of each unit
and completed individually.
* Make-up opportunities will be available for
grades below 75%
