Proposal summary

We proudly propose CaLabo EX, CHIerus full digital language lab system which covers all
the functions required in the RFP and brings state of the art environment on language
teaching with following features:
Cost and space effective: CaLabo EX runs on generic PCs with LAN and there is no need
for proprietary hardware and specific network.
Feature effective: CaLabo EX enables multimedia language learning experience which is
required in modern language learning
Time effective: CaLabo EX can be used not only at language classes but other STEM
classes to increase the class management productivity

What are Language Lab and CALL System?

A Language Lab
is a teacher-controlled audio-visual installation used as an aid in modern language teaching
is widely used in K12 schools, universities and professional institutions all over the world
is categorized by three types:
Analog-hardware: proprietary hardware and network system using analog sound materials (cassette tapes etc)
Digital-hardware: proprietary hardware and network system using digital material without visual files
CALL System (Full Digital): software solution on generic PCs connected to LAN (Local Area Network)
It is mainstream teaching solution in the modern classroom where variety of multimedia materials are used.

CALL (Computer Assisted Language Learning) System

is a language lab solution installed in the generic PCs on the LAN in the classroom.
enables a teacher to use audio and video files and let the students record their speeches.
increases productivity of language class; a teacher can interactively teach (usually) 20 to 80
students at the same time in the class.

Summary
CALL System is a part of modern language teaching environment and used globally.
Using CALL system, teacher can improve the quality and productivity of the class with up-
to-date multimedia materials and many other functions of the system.

Offers ideal educational environment by distributing variety of digital educational materials
including video and sound files as well as URLs of the websites.

With digital recording application Movie Teleco, teacher can digitize and distribute the
analogly recorded sources without difficulty. Students can repeatedly listen/watch the files,

Proposal on the language lab layout

The benefit of CALL System exists in its interactivity between a teacher and students
in the class room.
To maximize and leverage the benefit, we would like to propose the language lab
room would be where
teachers desk is in front of the students where eye-contacts can be made during the class.
the projection screen is beside the teachers desk where students can naturally gaze at.
Although carrel desks are good for self-study, using open desks without high sides can be an
option to assure interactive visibility.
