A

Humble Milonguero
Once I attended a tango workshop with a very good dancer (let's call him A), who is also
a tango teacher, but he was only one of many participants this time. There was another
tango teacher running the workshop. Participants were beginners mostly.
I always admired A's dancing and now was watching him practicing what the teacher
was showing. A was doing that with a huge diligence and commitment, technically much
better than any of us including the teacher himself. And all the time he kept a humble
participant's behavior. Many of us - not as 1/10th as good as he was - were doing the
workshop tasks with a relaxed attitude, even with some arrogance. We were able to
perform the task, no matter the poor performance quality. We were hiding our egos
behind the smiles.
A had no smile, but a sort of confusion and a disappointment with himself radiated from
his face.
Smiles disappeared from my face. I felt ashamed.
I think I learned the lesson.
