Subject: NN I KE KUMU: Look to your Sense of Place and sources of spirit and you find
your truth.

Aloha e ka Lahui Hawaii o ke Aupuni o Hawaii a me ka Lahui Kanaka o ke Ao,

Greetings to the people of the Kingdom of Hawaii and to the people of the World,

Today, I send you my warm aloha. I am here among you, looking at the situation with North
Korea from all angles. I know of your grave concerns as many of you wonder if the threat to
Hawaii will come to pass. Please do not let your fears overcome a calm heart which is what I
encourage you to adopt as this is the best way to protect our beloved Islands.

We have made contingency plans for the people of the Kingdom should such need arise. For
now, we must come together as a community and pray for peace to prevail. Peace begins within
our own hearts and allows us to go forward as a strong body of people.

Yes, we hear reports that trouble our spirits but as peaceful loving people, we can send our aloha
throughout the Islands and restore peace here in Hawaii. That is our defense. A peaceful heart
breeds courage and clear thinking.

Nothing in life is an accident. What is now before us will either unite us and make us stronger or
tear us apart and crumble us.

The United Nations Charter provides the rest of the authority to do it. (An autonomous independent sovereign nation-state contemplated
under Article 1 of the 1933 Montevideo Convention on Rights and Duties of States requiring the state as a person of international law
possessing the four qualifications of (a) a permanent population, (b) a defined territory, c) government;
and (d) capacity to enter into relations with the other states.)

Therefore, let us unite in prayer and meditation that our hearts, thoughts and actions are in
accord seeking unity and peace throughout these Hawaiian Islands, Guam, Japan, the West Coast
of the United States and the world.

Someone close to my heart taught me what Kaohinani really meant, that it did not simply mean
The gatherer of beautiful things, as its meaning transcends much deeper. It means: We are the
beauty of these lands, we are its breath, its voice and protectors and to know these truths is to
know the true meaning of Aloha.

As such, I humbly request that at 11:00 a.m., every morning for just a few minutes until this crisis
is over, that everyone throughout Hawaii and the world stop and pray for peace, calm and unity
to Akua the Great Spirit.

E ho'omaluhia. Be in Peace.

Ua Mau ke Ea o ka Aina i ka Pono,

Edmund K. Silva, Jr.
