10Troubleshooting
1 Power Indicator doesnt work.
1 Check if there is electricity in power supply.
2 Check if the input fuse is blown. If the fuse is broken, check if the input power is correct
and change the fuse. There are two fuses in the box which is under the mains jack. One
is for working, the other is for reserve.
3 If the fan works well and the kit works normally online, it might be the indicators circuit
problem which has no effect on output values.

2 Voltage short circuit or overheat alarm

1 Pull out all external connections. If the alarm disapears, it indicates there is no problem
with the kit.
2 If the alarm doesnt disapear, measure the voltage. If the voltage is low, please improve
power supply.
3 If the alarm doesnt disappear, measure voltage output terminal by multimeter. If there is
bigger DC voltage or lower AC voltage, it indicates the kit is horken. Please contact the
after-sales.

3 Cannot connect to computer

The computer connecting with the suitcase must install an Ethernet card 100MBytes / s. If it cant
link, please check following points:

1) Check the Ethernet connection.

2) Check the power supply is on.
3) Check if the model selected is In Remote control.
4) Check the IP address of computer and kit are correct. The default IP for kit is
192.168.1.133. The computer IP address should be in the same internet setting as
192.168.1.XXX. XXX should not be 133. If the IP is not correct and cant be changed,
please pull out the internet cable and change it again.

39
PW636i Hardware Instruction Manual

5) Check if the communication setting in System set is Ethernet.

6) Turn off antivirus software, and then test again.
7) Sometiems computer system may affect online result, please change computers.
8) Please note if the kit IP address has been changed. Press IP reset button to switch on
kit and confirm the IP in IP Set.

4 The current and voltage output is not accurate.

1) Check if the current and voltage output frequency is set correctly.
2) If the current is low, check the setting in System set is primary value.
3) Remove the outside connections and measure it no-load.
4) Check if there is strong electromagnetic interference that affects output accuracy.
5) Check the waveform is normal sine wave, the display measurement accuracy is 1% for
reference. (The current should be short circuit.)
6) Check the site meter is ok.
7) The low main power supply will cause inaccuracy output (especially with load). If the
voltage is low, please improve power supply.
8) Change a new computer. If it is ok, it is computers problem.
9) If one phase voltage or current output is 0, the fuse might be burnt. Change a new fuse.

5 High current output inaccuracy

1) Check if the waveform is topping and the current overload lamp is on.
2) Check low current output.
3) If the above items are met, it indicates the load is high. The current series can improve the
load.
4) Cut all external connections while testing by meter.
5) Check if the power supply decreases much while putting out high current.
6) Check if the power distortion rate exceeds 5%. If it is, high current may cause current
inaccuracy or load capacity decrease.

6 High voltage output inaccuracy

1) Check the voltage of power supply. If the voltage is too low, you have to improve the

40
PW636i Hardware Instruction Manual

voltage.
2) Check if the power supply THD exceeds 5%. If it exceeds, the voltage might be inaccuracy
or voltage short-circuit alarm while high voltage output.

7 Output waveform is incorrect.

1) Check the setting output value.
2) Check if the open circuit casue no oscillogram.
3) Check if the parameter setting of output monitor windows is correct, each amplitude is too
big, and the phase color is the same as grounding.
4) Check if the output terminal has accurate output.
5) Although the closed loop is damaged, it will not affect current and voltage output.

8 About Udc.
1 Only the output voltage is higher than 40V, the indicator will light. If the indicator doesnt
light at 220VDC, you can measure Udc output terminal. If there is output, there is
problem with indicators display circuit. But it doesnt affect output.
2 The short-circuit of Udc switches within several minutes, lower than Uac short-circuit
alarm.
3 If the Udc power cant output the higher voltage set by software, the power supply
doesnt work well.
4 When the Udc with load alarms, it is due to low load impedance or power supply
malfunction. The max. Load capacity is 0.55ADC.

9 The phase is inaccurate.

1) Check if the phase measurement method is right and it is normal without load.
2) Check if the setting output amplitude is accurate. Otherwise, it affects phase
measurement.
3) Check the system frequency setting and test phase frequency. If the two frequencies are
not the same, the angle will change.
4) Check the site pahse meter is normal and the setting is correct. Some pahse meter cant
measure phase at high frequency.

41
PW636i Hardware Instruction Manual

10 The frequency is inaccurate.

When the frequency is not accurate, check if the current and voltages output frequncy in general
unit are correct first. If the frequency differential is beyond the range, please check as following
method:

1) Check if the site instrument works well.

2) Check if the measurement and output are accurate without load.

11 Binary inputs and outputs

1 Binary inputs
Remove external connections. Short circuit binary input terminals with test leads to
check if the space contact works well.
If it is abnormal, check if the binary input is short circuit actually. It can be measured
by meter.
Check if the power supply works well. If it is abnormal, check the external power is
normal. Then check it with kits DC power. If it is ok, the problem might be the
external power supply or wire connection.
If the conected protection contact is potential contact, check if there is any difference
before and after trip.
2 Binary output
Check if the binary output works normally without load and has contact sound.
Check if it works normally with load and exceeds binary outputs load capacity.

12 Open circuit current alarm

1 When the current distortion is about 1%, it displays open circuit. When the current output
is 0 and without short circuit, the open circuit is random and doesnt affect test.
2 Short circuit the current terminal, if the open circuit alarm disappears, it is external
connection problem.
3 All the output fuses of open circuit power supply are burnt, it casues the kit open circuit.
4 Check if the current output waveform is distorted or topped by oscilligram. If it is distorted,
it is overloaded. User can improve laod capacity by current series.

13 How to output a greater current than allowed max. single phase current?
The three-phase current power of kit can be used by parallel connection. Users need set the
phase output. It is suggested to set amplitude the same.
The total output amplitude of phase parallel connection is: I=Ia+Ib+Ic=30 + 30 + 30= 90A

14 How to output a greater voltage than allowed max. single phase voltage?

RL Load

Fig. 1-9

When the two voltages are parallel connected, the Ua and Ub amplitudes are the same and the
phases are opposite. The max AC voltage 240V can be got, and the max output current is still
0.5A-0.55A.
