( V ) Percentage of voids in the mineral aggregate filled with bitumen : 33-43

Bitumen : The bitumen shall be used straight run bitumen of penetration value VG-30.
For the purpose of tendering bitumen content may be assumed as 3.5% by weight of
mineral aggregate. In case of bitumen content found out from the job mix formula
varies from 3.5% necessary adjustment will be made in the rate of the bitumen.

Contractor while quoting, rate may assume prevailing rate for bulk bitumen @
Rs.29053.49 per MT. for grade VG-30 at Mumbai refinery delivery point, at the
time of submission of tender. Any difference in the price shall be adjusted on
submission of actual vouchers. It will be the responsibility of the contactor to
arrange transport and suitably store this bulk bitumen at their own costs and
nothing extra shall be paid for the same. However, if due to non availability of
bulk bitumen, the contractor is required to use the drum bitumen, the prior
approval of Engineer-in-charge shall be obtained and shall be reimbursed the
difference in the actual purchase rate of drum bitumen and prevailing rate of
bulk bitumen at the time of submission of the tender minus the cost of empty
drum at the rate of Rs. 175/-per drum on production of necessary voucher /
documents. The cost of bitumen will therefore not qualify for payment of
escalation. The bitumen shall be treated as material issued by the department.
