5 PB PRE-LEARNING ASSESSMENT (PLA) SECONDARY

PART THREE CLASS REVIEW (for each class you teach)
Class Review
Teacher: John Donald Class: Art 8
Amanda Stephens
Classroom Strengths: What are the strengths of the class? What are the positive things about this group
as a whole?

As a whole they will get to business when you give them a task. Very artistic group.

Classroom Needs: What are your concerns about the class as a whole? What do you wonder?

As a whole, the class feeds off each others slacking behavior. I find that you had to push them to do their
work once they got bored of what they are doing. I wonder if a seating plan might be the solution to this
problem.

Goals: What are your main goals this year? (These goals may be based on the strengths and/or
concerns, or on an area of interest, or a new grade level or new curriculum. Each teacher may have
three or four.)

1) I want the students to care about the works that they produce.
2) I would like to set a seating plan so that the off task group will be separated and the will b able to
actually get some work done.
3) Get the students to engage with the art history portion of the lessons.
Decisions: What decisions will you make based on the information gathered?

I will be setting a seating plan to ensure that all students will be able to learn. The same group of boys from B
block are also in the Art class, so I will be using same techniques from B block to separate them.

PART FOUR - IMPLICATIONS FOR PLANNING

1. SUMMARIZE THE MOST IMPORTANT IMPLICATIONS THAT YOU DRAW FROM THIS ASSESSMENT THAT
WILL BE OF CRITICAL IMPORTANCE TO YOUR PLANNING & TEACHING.

- By sticking to the goals I have set for the class, is will become most important to the creativity of the
class.
- With a seating plan, it will help those that are not on task to become more on task.
- For teaching I will have to learn to ignore the taunting from the disruptive group of the class.
- For a certain student, I have to come up with alternative way to teach him the material and if need be a
separate assignment.
