Upon further research, I have come to the realization that my end career goal of Forensic Psychologist will come at a much later
point in my academic career. I hope to secure a position in which I will get to work with the court system and police teams in order
to find criminals with mental disorders, treat these individuals, and reduce jail time to get them the help they need. I hope to travel to
each case, and not remain in an office setting. In the nearer future, I hope to secure a position in a helping role in the field of
psychology to get more accustomed to the working world and further determine where I want to be in the future.
In the left column, outline three to five (or more) short-term SMART goals that will assist you in achieving your long-term career
goal. Remember that SMART goals are Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely. (This could include goals focused
on learning more about your career of interest, researching graduate programs or the job market, gaining experiences that will assist
you in securing a particular career or gaining acceptance into a graduate program). These goals should be attainable within the next
two semesters. In the right column, describe various professional development activities that could be completed to achieve that goal.
Be sure that there is alignment between the specific goal and the prospective activities. Refer to the course syllabus, which outlines
different categories of activities.
