social networking sites and our CEA website. Webpage was moved and ‘events’ have been
added to Facebook page to elicit more visibility. We now have 70 Facebook friends! ☺

Membership Incentives were discussed and Dawn moved that we increase the dollar/member
amount from $2 to $4. This money should be used to maintain CEA visibility in our schools.
Dawn motions to approve/2nd from Cecilia to accept.

The Fall Membership Drive will run through November. Members will earn $5 for every new
member and a chance to win $100 at the end of the Drive. $25 will be awarded to the person
who registers the most new members, and the $100 drawing will be held at the Holiday Social
at Serrano’s on 11/30. Dawn motions to approve/2nd Mike G. to accept.
• PAC (Paula J.) Chandler EA is working hard to help get Venessa Whitener elected for the
legislature; she is the Republican candidate for Dist. 21. Paula is working closely with both Ms.
Whitener and AEA on a Support Walk scheduled for 7/31 from 8:15-11:30 am, beginning at
Paradise Bakery (Gilbert & Germann). She also indicated that Venessa would be in attending
our first AR meeting on 8/10. Penny Kotterman won’t be able to make it as previously indicated.
Mike W. is working on getting a video or some kind of YouTube clip to share at AR meeting.

• AR’s (Michele/Wendy) Michele is working with Barnes & Noble to hold an AR training event on
advocacy at their store on September 11th. She indicates that they are eager to work with us.

Wendy created stipend contracts for both Executive Board members and AR’s. Responsibilities were
laid out regarding meeting attendance, active membership and support of Association events. It
was decided that some minor changes would be made and she would present them again at the
next Exec. Board meeting on August 3rd.

• Committees Update (Jackie)

**Jackie was unable to attend, however she sent a very detailed email with Committee status.**

• Super Q Is in the process of forming a team and Mike W. will provide some training for us.
Jackie also indicates that EsPoc will be a part of this training, however they will have their
own bargaining team.

• Media: Jackie indicated that she and Stephanie Robertson are waiting to hear back from
the Arizona Republic Ed. Board with a date to meet.

She is also planning to meet with the Chandler Chamber of Commerce and is looking for
support from Dawn with this.

Jackie will meet with Terry Locke to discuss ways to work collaboratively with the district
and says that Mr. Locke is very interested in working with us.

A Lobbying/Media manual is being created. More information to come.

• Softball Tournament/Rally Update (Jackie/Cecilia)

This event is scheduled for October 30th at Snedigar Park, beginning at 8:00 a.m. There will
be 8 teams with an entry fee of $150/team. ASA rules will apply, and it’s a double-
elimination tournament. The prizes are $500, $300, and $150. Teams must submit a letter as
to what their prize money will be used for. (An example would be a laminating machine.) A
vendor has been secured to sell concessions and they will be giving us %20 of the sales back.
The committee will be formed in the coming weeks. Jackie is looking for basket donations
provided by Executive Board members to be sold through a silent auction to take place
during the tournament.
There will also be a rally beginning at 9:00 a.m. and she has firm commitments from Penny
Kotterman, Matt Jette, and David Lujan.

and she will also send out emails to notify of updated newsletters to be posted on the CEA website.
