Reading Social Studies
There are two possible options for reading:
Students will work with a parent to read the
weekly fluency passage. It must be read five
separate times. The child will be given one mi-
nute to complete the reading. The parent will
record the number of words read (subtracting
the errors) at the bottom of the page. After
the five reads, the student will need to answer
the five comprehension questions that accom-
pany the passage.
Students may write/type a one page summary
over one of their library books. This summary
must include a beginning, middle, and end. It
must also include the main idea, and the overall
theme of the book. The summary must have
complete sentences with correct capitalization
and punctuation.
Language
Use the language textbook to com-
plete the Review section of the appro-
priate skill chosen by your teacher.
It must be a skill we are currently cover-
ing, or have previously covered.
There are two possible options for
social studies:
Complete the crossword portion of
the Social Studies Weekly
Create a Powerpoint presentation
for the class over a historical figure
that we have discussed in class. It
must include questions/problems to
involve the class.
Study Guides
For each Science and Social Studies unit,
the students may receive a study guide
over the information that will be assessed
on the end of chapter test. These study
guides include questions that we cover in
class. If the student gets the study guide
signed by his/her guardian, they will re-
ceive an additional 5 points on the test.
The signature will tell the teacher that the
student has studied with an adult to pre-
pare for the test. This is vital in creating
strong study habits and fostering success-
ful life long learners.
